Folding Knife?

Kyle,

You’ve made your thoughts on folding knives abundantly clear (broken fixed blades), but do you have any insight on an EDC folder for those of us in states that prohibit concealed fixed blades?

Thank you for your time,

AWJ

I like the CRKT m16 and the Johnson Adventure Blade folder

Do you have any suggestions for folders with blades no larger than 3"?

not at this time

Any thoughts on the zero tolerance 0350 ?
Thanks in advance

Frank

I don’t think much of it.

Kyle,

Any thoughts on the TDI knives from Ka-Bar?

It’s ok. On a scale of 1 to 10, with a Bloodshark being the 10, that blade is a 3, maybe 4. …at least it made the scale- folders don’t.

Kyle,*
First, thanks for the opportunity to pick your brain.

You say the Bloodshark is a 10 on the 1-10 scale, does that mean for most uses or just a specific use?

My understanding is that it was designed from the ground up as a fighter, however, *are you getting good utility usage out of yours as well or is it reserved for fighting use only?

What have you found it excels at?
What have you found it’s limitations are?
(In both a fighting and utility roles)

Thanks.

I use mine for everything from opening boxes, carving wood, and skinning animals. I sharpen mine daily and if you know how, it maintains a great edge. I’ve even used it for chopping, hitting it on the spine with a rock to go through some thick stuff.

I don’t know any limitations and I use it probably more than anyone except Tracker Dan. I’ve seen Dan use it in ways that I’d never thought of.

It excels at doing everything a fixed should be able to and still being able to be worn effectively and concealed.

Mr. Defoor,

there are many that say a “combat” blade should not be used for any other task and that a separate, utility blade should be used for all non-combat tasks.

What is your view on the subject?

Thanks.

That’s silly in my opinion. Kinda like having a Rolex or Panerai and only wearing it on Sundays.

I try to be as minimalistic as possible and pick tools that can be used for multiple tasks. Besides my Bloodshark, all I carry in the field is a Leatherman.
