Went to the Gun Show in Chantilly VA yesterday got there when the doors opend at 0900 saw 3 and by 1000 2 were spoken for.
Got to handel one and really liked it A LOT…it was priced at $2650. I think that was a little high but at a GS I an not surprised.
I would like to get one but a $2000+ carbine is not in the cards any time soon.
About $20 over $2100 from a distributor, no idea if stocking dealers get a better deal. Of course none of them have gotten any for sale to non-stocking dealers, so…
FWIW: The SCAR-H just showed up in a distributors catalog, $200 more than the SCAR 16S.
I bet it’s less. Look at the mark ups/gouging on the 6920s over the past 12 months. From $2700 at the height of histaria, to below $1200 now and it’s still marked up.
I only stated “about 20 over $2100” because I’ve seen three dealer prices which are all different, all within a few bucks of each other. Dealer is no big secret IMHO.
RE: The 6920, other than Colt increases, I never saw a massive increase in cost from a distributor, then a retraction in the price… They have gone up minimal amounts, but the mark-up on the street was on the retail side.
The FN SCAR will/would drop below the prices mentioned if there is stock and they are not moving. Case in point, I bought a S&W 442 (NiL) and when I was transferring it out of my FFL someone expressed interest, so one was ordered, the price had gone down a few bucks.
I bet if nobody expressed an interest in SCARs the price would drop a couple of hundred bucks. Look at what the P90s were going for in the first 12-18mo compared to now.
That will translate to a typical street price of about $2450.
I dont think it’s possible for no one to express interest in a SCAR. It’s the “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” theory. It’s just a fact that people like to own gear associated with super swoopy operators.
