I found this bcg for sale used from a local guy. He claims its a fn bcg. He said its chrome lined and has about 200 rounds with it. He wants $70. for it. I am a little hesitant. What do you guys think?
Is it from a LGS? What are the markings? Is it for the complete BCG?
Whats a LGS? It is for the complete BCG. I will call and ask what markings it has.

The guy said that he got the BCG from a contractor. He is going to call me tonight and let me know the markings.
Aside from verifying whether or not the bcg (both bolt and carrier) is legitimately of FNH manufacture I would also suggest a very thorough inspection. You will want to know if the gas rings are still good, the gas key staking is adequate, that there’s no play in the gas key, as well as checking for any unexpected wear points such as the bolt lugs. All these items should be fine if the bcg really has only 200 rounds on it.
I think $70 is a good price for a used FN bcg in good condition if the claimed round count is accurate.
Go with your first instinct.
Use the money to buy a new Colt or LMT BCG.
Check your headspace.
I’ve never considered nor entertained the idea of a used BCG. I’m not a rich man but I’d sooner wait, save, and buy something verifiable than take someone’s word for it.
A lot of pressure in a small chunk of aluminum way too close to your face to leave to a sliver of doubt. Just saying.

Better yet, purchase a bargain 6920/6720, to be had for under $800 from time to time, part out everything except the M16 BCG, and make some money on top of it! Of course, do comply with all laws, rules, and regulations.

Actually the Surefire 60s are the too good to pass up price, The colt is good, but the Surefire… You have like six people who’s wallets wish to have a private word with you.

Life is too short to buy used third-hand bcg’s of unknown pedigree.

I would agree with the others. The AR is an extremely popular platform, and with that popularity comes lots of shady dealers and companies who are looking for a quick cash in. There are far too many fake products floating around out there. Don’t risk your hard earned money on an unknown. Saving up and buying a brand name product from a trusted vendor is a much better path to take.
I’d just take the money and put it towards a new bcg myself. Trust your instincts
