A buddy of mine brought this thought to me, so I thought I’d post it here for thoughts and feedback.
Weaver used to make a scope mount that would tip off to the side so that you could use your irons if your scope failed, fogged, or if light was poor or you just wanted to shoot with irons sights. The Weaver was kindof thin in construction.
That leads to my friend’s thought:
What if you mounted a 30mm scope in a pair of flip to side magnifier mounts. How would that work?
My worry is the precision of the mounts and the ability to return to zero exactly every time. Most of the magnifier mounts i’ve had experience with have always had some play. Weight also could become an concern if that is an issue at all.
the tip-off mounts were never very good for what they claimed to be.RTZ was a crapshoot at best. the idea of putting a scope in two pivoting magnifier mounts makes my hair hurt…
