I’m sure this has been discussed before but I could not find anything specific in my search. If this is indeed the case, I apologize.
I have a 14.5" barrel that needs it’s extended A2 flash hider replaced. It’s a police duty rifle in an urban environment. I’m looking for a flash hider more than a muzzle brake since it will see indoor use. It needs to be sturdy since it will get banged around. I need something worth permanently attaching.
I’ve looked at the Phantom, Vortex, Blackout, etc. I’m having a hard time deciding on one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Having had rifles with both the Phantom and Vortex, I have to agree the latter is the better choice, unless you also want it to serve double duty as an apple corer.
Those are OK… but they have that flat surface that creates a small carbon trap near the crown of the barrel. No biggie except that if it’s permed, you can’t do anything about that build up.
An A2X has a funnel/cone shape that you can get to with a swab and CLP to keep the build up minimized.
Isn’t the Vortex being used fairly extensively overseas right now? By extensively, I mean given the fact that it has to be bought by the soldier/family of the soldier and mailed.
I’ve got an older version of the Vortex with a groove cut into the end to accept a snap ring or simular which avoids the potential “open end” problem. This might not be what the groove was designed for but that’s how I cofigured mine.
