Flash Hider recommendation

I have a Dead Air muzzle brake on my Noveske 14.5 Afghan. It has a little too much concussion for my taste. Can someone recommend a flash hider that will keep the barrel at 16+ and reduces concussion? I don’t think an A2 bird cage is long enough.

Thanks

Anything that’s not a brake will have less concussion…the Vortex flash hider shoots soft and keeps it over 16"

You can buy extended A2 flash hiders that will bring a 14.5" barrel to over 16". I have one on my 14.5" BCM Socom.

Here is one from BCM that is in stock.

It is not, but a A2X is long enough for a 14.5". My favorite go to flash hider is a White Sound FOSSA 5.56 but apparently they are currently unobtanium, might give them a call and see if they have a time frame on availability.

FCD 6315KM is a good one if you want to stay with the same device if you are after a DA silencer. does a good job on flash and impressive job on keeping the muzzle flat. Or the DA 3 prong Flash Hider.
the Surefire 3 prong, Warcomp, CTN and CTN Warcomp are also good if you want to switch.

I use one of 2 for nearly every rifle.

Thanks Guys!

I have several of these. They work as advertised, muzzle blast isn’t any more noticeable than an A2, and provide the Keymo mount for my cans. I can’t speak to how well they suppress flash, but suspect they’re equivalent to an A2 in that respect as well.

Yes, the 6315 suppresses flash similar to an A2. If I needed a longer flash hider, but not necessarily a mount, I’d look at that, an A2X, YHM, or a WSD Fossa (unobtanium).

A2X is both cheapest and tied for best of available options, but I’m biased toward A2s. It has acceptable flash mitigation on a 14.5”, and also provides a small amount of muzzle rise compensation. If you don’t believe that, put one on a P90, and marvel at how the muzzle dips instead of rising.

I’m with Hush, not much better on the market that reduces flash than Vortex. Is long enough to meet the 16" requirement.

SEI Vortex is the king of kings.

Isn’t the Vortex one of those with that annoying ass tuning fork ring?

Another vote for the FCD 6315KM. Roger did a great job slightly improving the A2’s performance and you get the mount for a can.

The YHM Phantom is a long-standing option that is well known to minimize flash effectively. I don’t have any right now, but mostly because I’ve kept A2’s to minimize length or put KeyMo mounts in place for suppressor use.

Yes, that is what they say. I have never heard it in twenty plus years of using them.

Same, except I use Plan A instead of Keymo. The YHM is one of the best closed tined flash hiders around for flash mitigation, I just don’t use them because A2s and mounts.

Roger……please, please make us some Plan A 6315s.

that Plan A on a 6315 would be sweet

You all a speaking another language. :jester:

It only adds .2” to the mounted length of your can vs the 1.5” of Keymo. Much less weight. Available in a large variety of thread pitches and muzzle devices, like Keymo. Costs way less. Way less.

I have an AAC Blackout pinned to a 14.5" barrel - it rings when I drop the bolt, but I don’t notice it when firing.

Also have a YHM Phantom (sans teeth) - great and long FH.
