fitting rail over comp

I couldn’t find on google the particular combo I’m looking to get. Anyone know if a Fortis rail will fit over a pinned bcm comp with the fsb shaved down? Thanks.

Any FF rail will fit over a pinned comp and should clear most gasbocks, especially a shaved FSB. What you’ll need is a rail that mounts onto a standard barrel nut. That’s the part you can’t slide over the gasblock.

I wouldn’t put a rail over a comp and expect it to last. The is a thread around here somewhere about a fella who did this, with a Fortis, and blew it to hell.

^yes.
I dont think he’s looking at doing that though… If I understand the question correctly, he’s asking about the possibility of installing a FF rail without having to take off his shaved FSB, and in turn, his permed comp.

i just installed a 13" fortis onto a 16" barrel with low pro gas block and a2 flash hider

easy

Haha well derduhder…now that you point that out it is so obvious.

Blew it straight to hell https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=135012&highlight=rail+damaged I know doesn’t help thread but couldn’t help it…

Since it uses a standard barrel nut, as long as the gas block isn’t a fat pig you should be able to slip it over. I just put one together with a Noveske barrel and gas block and it was fine.

Right. I want to order a 14.5" upper from BCM and have them pin and weld the comp, but wanted to make sure the rail would slide over the comp. I figured it would, if it would slide over the shaved fsb, just trying to avoid a stupid and costly mistake.
