So I need to start this off by saying that this is my experience and only my experience, I do not have other sources to back this up, but get the feeling like this is becoming the norm. I know that UPS is not friendly to guns and that they are going to additional measures to stop “ghost guns” or really what they mean is gun parts from reaching the average citizen, please see article from Truth about Guns below.
So long story,I ordered a 14.5 Geissele Super Duty upper from Primary Arms when they were running a sale on 4/16/22, I got a reply from PA that they were now on back order and they would ship as soon as it came in. So 7/15/22 comes around and it is shipping to me FedEx and should arrive Monday 7/18/22, so here I am. I get a message Monday (that it arrived in Madison Wisconsin (about an hour from my house) and it has been delayed and will arrive Tuesday. So this past Tuesday I (at work) get a message at around noon that this has moved to FedEx freight and I now require a signature. My wife is home, with the dog that will bark at a leaf falling on the ground so I feel confident that she’ll sign for it. Around 2pm I get an email that no one is home and they will try again tomorrow. No doorbell rang, no message at my door, there are only 10 homes on my street… The same thing happens Wednesday, and Thursday. I call FedEx multiple times to no luck and “it will be there tomorrow Sir” so Thursday I call and get a straight answer, they tell me that this is a special shipment and that they only handle this with one driver and that this shipment is kept at a location that I can not go and pick it up at. I ask why this is so special, and they tell me they do this for highly regulated items. I say that this is not regulated and they finally tell me that my local Wllgreens can receive it, so it was supposed to be sent there today, as of 5:44 PM CST it was delayed again with a Monday delivery…
I think I’ll have to have it delivered to an FFL if at all. Either way I get the feeling that they don’t want to deliver it because its a gun part but treat it like a firearm. I really just wanted to go shooting this weekend.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, OP. Sucks that you have to deal with this for a perfectly legal purchase.
IMHO FedEx has been crooked as Hell for a very long time. A close family member working in a state government agency shared her dismay upon discovering that FedEx was signing new hires with multiple felony convictions through an employment agency working with her office as a contractor. This was 20 years ago, I can’t imagine it has gotten any better since then.
I live in east Asia and where I am, no one uses FedEx if they can avoid it. FedEx parcels are routinely held, opened, and searched by customs due to chronic, repeated, past incidents of the attempted import of banned objects and banned substances into this country. Customs officials have become so hostile to FedEx due to illegal imports that now, permitted products are often rejected and kicked back to the US as contraband “just because.” I mean stuff as innocuous as Reese’s peanut butter cups and beef jerky products.
ATEi here in Michigan has refused fed ex shipments for a few years now due to their anti gun antics.
This is a copy paste from their we page in the FAQ page.
WHY ARE YOU NO LONGER ACCEPTING FEDEX PACKAGES?
Effective March 5, 2018 ATEi will no longer accept packages shipped through FedEX, nor will we return items using customer supplied FedEX labels, until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We feel strongly in our stance against FedEX, but more importantly in our Second Amendment Rights and cannot support a company who has publically stated an opinion that undermines, infringes upon or would like to limit our Second Amendment rights.
Please remember that when anti-Second Amendment individuals say “assault rifle” what they mean is a semi-automatic rifle like the standard AR-15. Contrary to their belief, the Second Amendment is not about hunting and the firearms used for hunting. It is part of the Bill Of Rights (written by James Madison for greater constitutional protection for individual liberties), which lists specific prohibitions on governmental power. The exact wording is: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It was written to ensure the right of the people to own arms equal in grade to those who would wish to oppress us.
“February 26, 2018 – FedEx Corporation’s positions on the issues of gun policy and safety differ from those of the National Rifle Association (NRA). FedEx opposes assault rifles being in the hands of civilians. While we strongly support the constitutional right of U.S. citizens to own firearms subject to appropriate background checks, FedEx views assault rifles and large capacity magazines as an inherent potential danger to schools, workplaces, and communities when such weapons are misused. We therefore support restricting them to the military. Most important, FedEx believes urgent action is required at the local, state, and Federal level to protect schools and students from incidents such as the horrific tragedy in Florida on February 14th.
FedEx is a common carrier under Federal law and therefore does not and will not deny service or discriminate against any legal entity regardless of their policy positions or political views. The NRA is one of hundreds of organizations in our alliances/association Marketing program whose members receive discounted rates for FedEx shipping. FedEx has never set or changed rates for any of our millions of customers around the world in response to their politics, beliefs or positions on issues.”
Thanks for all the knowledge. It was delivered to my house today. It was definitely opened but the wrap around the Upper was not. The Geissele box was pretty beat up.The box had been re-taped at least twice, there was blue striped packing tape (I’m guessing from PA) then aluminum ribbed packing tape and then regular clear tape. The box had no markings except a Houston address (I’m assuming the PA warehouse) and mine. I’m glad that they did deliver today and am hoping to get to the range tomorrow morning for it, but I am much more skeptical about shipping now, which sucks as my favorite LGS has really limited it selection of Premium AR parts.
I’d reach out to PA and let them know. They all seem like good guys and might appreciate the heads up. Also, I hope it works for you. I just sent my 11.5 upper back to Geissele today because the chamber is too tight. They sent me a label through UPS so while it’s in a discreet shipping box, anyone paying attention the the label will see that it’s going to Geissele. I wouldn’t be surprised if these assholes have a flag that pops up when certain addresses are sent from/to.
Ya, that really sucks. I haven’t chosen FedEx over any other carrier for a loooong time. I will continue to use UPS or USPS. I buy neither primers nor powder online, and rarely ammo, so UPS’ upcoming change should have little affect on my shipments (if at all).
I received a package this week from UPS that was supposed to require a signature. When I arrived at the door, the driver was already almost at the truck, and the package was on my porch. I expect nothing different to occur in the near future.
I was planning on doing so. Sorry to hear about yours, I hope you get it corrected back asap. Its becoming very frustrating with all the angles in which they infringe on our rights.
I have a Forward Controls plate dropped off by FC in TX on 11/24 it was scanned here in AZ on 11/28, then showed up in MA on 12/2, then Hodgkins, IL 12/3.
We have a bunch of Tik Tok watching mongoloids working in this country.
As near as I can tell that ranges from UPS/FedEx delivering the package to the post office in the destination town for final delivery to UPS/FedEx taking a package to the post office in the origin town for the full trip.
Either way, UPS/FedEx typically costs significantly more so once I figured out avoiding USPS(and claims of poor performance) was essentially impossible I opted to go to the post office to ship something for $X.00 instead of driving past the post office to pay UPS 1.5 × $X.00 to frequently take it to the post office anyway.
I ordered 2000 bullets from RMR, and my carrier can’t lift the package. I have to go get it at the PO which is mildly annoying.
But when I get there and stand in line for 5-10 minutes while the mouth breathers behind the counter mosey around at a pace that would make a union slob jealous, the first mask wearing mongo can’t find my package. He has to give the tag to the slightly higher IQ guy next to him to find my box.
I can’t wrap my mind around how people can be so dumb, lazy, and worthless.
I’m a firm believer that most of this was caused by Amazon. They put UPS and FedEx up against each other, FedEx won but at a very low margin. It was a race to the bottom.
Then Amazon started their own shipping division, which I am sure created issues.
