Had plenty time with my SOPMOD M4 in the Air Force but have never owned my own black rifle.
Been wanting to pick one up for awhile and came across a deal that I couldn’t pass up on the other day. Not my custom build, but still some custom items from someone else. Best part is I don’t need anything but a repair kit for the missing pressure switch and plenty of ammo to shoot! A H buffer and M16 bolt will complete everything this gun should ever need (until I change my mind that is)
That is a great setup compared to alot of the first time ar owners rifles. I built my first one from a parts kit and m16 manual back in the early 80’s. A (KISS) car15 version but it got shot thuosands of times by the end of the year. The add on toys have come light years from those days. Get plenty of ammo and go shoot til to hot to hold. Yeah, I’m really happy with the setup, doesn’t have all the check marks on the chart but really more then enough for my planned usage.
I only ran about 50 rounds through it so far and it shot nice groups at 25 yards. seemed to shoot a bit high through the eotech by the time it was out at 50 yards. The iron sights seemed dead on already. I didn’t make any changes to the sights…figured I wanted to just shoot it more until I decide to make changes…don’t want to move it off zero when it may just be me getting used to the sights again!
Now I just need to find a good deal on a case of ammo and call it a day. Time to get serious about saving for a reloading setup now…between the .40 and the .223 I would start saving a ton (or at least shoot more for the same)
Did some shooting today, just before leaving decided to shoot two five round groups and see what I got. These are from 50 yards at the NRA HQ range in Virginia. Wouldn’t mind getting it a bit tighter and then just a few clicks on the sight and I’m zero’d
Lake City XM193 shot with the EOtech 552 sight. I changed the stock buffer to a Spikes T2 and it seems a little smoother, not a huge difference though. Had one empty mag that failed to lock back after 100 or so rounds while shooting the wolf ammo.
