First SBR Build!

This is my first SBR, got a 5.56 NATO upper for it to start but I have an ~11"section of 1:8 Shilen match .308 barrel I’ll turn into a .300 BLK upper when I have time/money.

I plan on running this mostly suppressed, with a YHM .308 Phantom QD can I have NFA paperwork pending on. A YHM Phantom brake/QD mount is on order for it. Down the road I want to get a ST nickel boron BCG to aid in cleaning/reliability for suppressed fire. May move to the VLTOR A5 down the road if I have problems with reliability.

So here are the components, tell me what you guys think:

Lower:

  • YHM-produced lower (gift from the owner of the shop I work for), RDIAS compatible
  • Colt LRPK (robbed from a FA Colt 933 LE trade-in parts kit)
  • Colt H2 buffer & carbine action spring
  • KNS Gen. 2 Anti-Rotation Pins
  • ST “Battle Trigger Set” (nickel boron trigger, disconnector & hammer)
  • TangoDown BG-17 grip
  • MAGPUL ASAP
  • MAGPUL BAD
  • VLTOR receiver extension
  • MAGPUL ACS
  • MAGPUL MOE trigger guard

Upper:

  • BCM BFH 11.5" carbine bbl/receiver
  • BCM M16 BCG (phosphate)
  • BCM/VLTOR Gunfighter Mod.4
  • LWRCI rear BUIS (nice, like it more than Troy)
  • MAGPUL MOE handguard

Not pictured:

  • Aimpoint CompM2 in QRP mount
  • MAGPUL MS2 sling

Down the road I’ll probably get a DD Mk.18 rail and LPGB (obviously), will roll with an LWRCI front BUIS to match. Also aim to change out my QRP mount to a LaRue LT-129 or LT-150. MIGHT get a PRI GasBuster but if the gas blow-back isn’t too bad may just leave the BCM Gunfighter in there.

So far I’ve put only a couple mags through it to test functioning and it works great, very low felt recoil and muzzle rise, we’ll see what happens with the can!

Looks cool. I wish my state allowed SBR’s

Very nice “KISS” system.

another great thing about having that one SBR is the ability to have many different caliber SBR’s w/ the same platform…

…it only takes one!

Yeah I would have gone with a CTR stock, but since the can will add weight I figured with the ACS it would help balance it out a little better. Plus the ability to store a boresnake in the storage area is nice.

I like them relatively simple, had a REDI-MAG but it complicated operations (especially tactical reloads) so I sold it. Also forgot to mention the BAD-ASS selector, but I’m sure everyone saw it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Very slick set up that you have there sir! I can’t wait till I get enough funds to run my SBR Suppressed. All I know is that with my DI Gas System it gets messy in a quick hurry. I don’t even want to imagaine how dirty it’ll get with a can.
But I do agree with the ACS Stock. I have a CTR on my SBR which balances beautifully, I had an ACS on a 16in heavy stainless AR and it balanced pretty decent on it.
And once you throw on your Shilen bbl that should be one heck of a shooter!
