I was looking for the lowest profile and PRI looked like the way to go for my need. I don’t have experience shooting with any yet. Saw a guy use a JP A2 fixed for a Retro build in 300BLK that looked really good.
Think JP and PRI work the same. Apparently Jet suppressors make one (AR performance has 2 closeout). Also Paladin Machine makes a 3 position block that looks a little less refined from what I have seen. Would have gone with Noveske Switchblock but didn’t want to cut up my MRP upper and can only put one of those in the mid position beyond the rail.
I tried and was disappointed with the PRI this weekend as it still allows enough gas to unlock the bolt and push it back an inch even when fully shut. May look to get an push button on / off block that apparently Marty has made in the past.
Separately, had ADCO fill and re-drill the gas port my overgassed 14.5" SS LMT 6.8 and its much improved. Does not feel so rough any more, deposits brass at 3 with an H2, and no more extractor marks on the brass with the same load.
Still getting about 1.2ish 5 shot groups with Nosler factory second 115 cannelured HPBTs over H322 but have not worked up loads. I think this is probably good enough for a relatively cheap projectile over dropped powder. 100 yards, 10x bushnell in a Larue, harris bipod, SSA, no bags.
Pulled my Geissele Service Rifle trigger and put it in the SR25 lower, installed Battle Arms ambi safety, Phase 5 lever, MIAD grip, and Sopmod. Some dremmel work needed on the Phase 5 near the thick paddle area.
Now my MWS ergos match my MRP. Will look to improve Noveske 6.5CM barrel groups with this trigger.
Thanks. That trigger had gone unused for too long in my Service Rifle. I suppose I don’t have the inclination or time to compete so its time to sell the upper (Compass Lake w/ Krieger) to fund something esle.
Had a good LMT customer service experience recently when I learned they are now shipping piston guns with 2 position gas plugs (Fire / Suppressed) vs the single position (or Fire / Off) that came with mine. Called them up and they put one in the mail at no cost… I did buy the 12" piston kit directly from them some time ago.
The 22lr conversion is a blast and a good option at my indoor pistol club when the weather sucks. Heard something about them not making it anymore… would be too bad if true.
Only downside of MRP/MWS is having too many options! I’ve got so much load development / testing work to do. I got my best 5 shot (I know I should step it up to 10) with the 6.5CM using undeveloped hand loads and dropped powder a while back (0.66"). Perhaps I will shoot more consistently with this trigger and when I start using a rear bag rather than my left arm for support. Converting 308 brass to 6.5CM looks like it will work fine but need to pick up a neck turning tool for a bit of thinning.

Notice L129a1s (MWSs) by the tan sopmod stocks. I see at least two… second from right and 4th from left. If you go to the source of this pic you can get a larger image for a closer look. ETA: Link to larger photo.
6.5CM results yesterday with KAC lower, 9mm heavy buffer, and Geissele. Best of those 4 five shot groups is 0.65". 120 Lapua Scenars over dropped Varget. The high shot on the bottom left target was the cold bore shot. Still looking to find a load and improve technique so that most 5 shot groups are under an inch.
Swapped out the target sights on the HK for some tru glow tritium with fiber optics.
Thanks! Was a blast on Saturday. In addition to the 6.5, 45, and 12" Piston, I threw the 10.5" Noveske 300BLK barrel in the MRP and put the 45 suppressor on (still waiting for the AAC!). All 50 of the 175 subs cycled flawlessly from a GI mag.
I also tried some 145 tracer subs that I didn’t expect to cycle but amazingly enough they did. Several of them also lit and the red glow burning out in the berm surprised a few. They are so cheap I just wanted them as plinkers but guess I should glue over them to keep them from lighting. Would also be fun to punch holes in the copper lining so they all light earlier. Spitting suppressed “fire” at dusk would rock.
I appreciate the reasonably priced factory match ammo and have read that feeding is better and that you can load projectiles longer. Also read that it may be slightly less a barrel burner and hence some additional useful life. Another significant reason I leaned to 6.5CM is because Noveseke made one (and don’t make a 260 currently). I think I like the 3R 1x8 spec better than the 1x10 I believe LMT is scheduled to release based on the SHOT pictures.
I really like the set up. The results you see are my first with the trigger and it is very crisp. I don’t have a ton of experience however so can’t claim to feel a massive difference from the factory trigger.
I took the threads off because I converted the barrel before I invested in a preban SR-25 lower and unfortunately live where that matters. I do like that its only slightly longer in total than my 16" CL with a permed battle comp. I will likely un perm the battle comp will be able to use the 762-SDN-6 when it finally arrives.
Thanks for the info - I have heard the issues with loading bullets longer in the 6.5CM vs the .260 Rem. Why do you favor the 1x8 vs the 1x10 twist? I would think the only difference for Noveske making a barrel in .260 Rem would be the reamer used…
More MRP magic below. New 18" mid gas 6.5PCC made it back from conversion at DBMG with Noveske switchblock installed. I need dies and AAC 762-SDN-6 suppressor asap. Will use 556 brass, bolts, and mags as well as share Creedmoor projectiles.
