Shot my first IDPA Match this past weekend, using a P2000 LEM 9mm with a BlackHawk Serpa and mag carriers. I was quite anxious at first, but I quickly warmed up after the first stage. I had a GREAT time, and everyone there was very friendly and helpful. For being just cardboard targets, you sure get the adrenaline going. Here are some pictures and a little explanation with each.

Stage 2 - Using cover.
Stage 2 - Using cover. 3 Targets, longest at 35 yards. I did well considering I’ve never fired past 12 yards with any handgun. Ever. Hit 3 out of 5 on that far target, with 2 head shots.

Stage 3 - Shooting through a window at 2 targets at 3 feet, covered by a hostage. Three targets left, outside of window, and 3 right, also outside of window.

Stage 5 - Target setup. 3 shots each target, with 1 to the head. Can’t have 2 consecutive shots to a target.
Overall, it was a blast. Most folks were running Browning Hi-Powers, Glocks, or a 1911 here or there. One kid was about 11 and shooting a Walther P22 with a match weight. One of the Glocks had a stovepipe, but the lady cleared it and kept on plugging away. Didn’t see a H&K in my group of 27.
My impressions of the P2000
It ran great for me. Very smooth operating gun. Obviously, it is more accurate than myself. I ended up 5th out of 27 new shooters, but I was just happy I hit the target, most of the time anyways! I had no problems manipulating the controls. I like the rotating mag release design of H&K, and I’ve gotten used to having to cover the target with the front sight. My big issue is the shape of the trigger. While I understand the purpose, it irritates my trigger finger after 100 rounds or so. I’ve tried adjusting my finger placement, but to no avail. I think after some more trigger time I’ll get a nice callous built up, and it’ll be no problem.
