I picked a stripped lower at a gun show a few months back, and with the wealth of knowledge on this forum I’ve finally finished my first build. Everything went together smoothly, no problems at all.
Stripped Stag Arms Lower
DD LPK
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
Geissele SSA-E
KNS Gen 2 Mod 2 Pins (I know these are completely unnecessary but I picked them up before I had done any research on them )
Norgon Ambi Catch
Magpul MIAD
Vltor SASE Endplate
BCM Receiver Extension and Nut
H2 Buffer
Sprinco Blue Spring
Magpul CTR
It only has 420 rounds through it thus far but it will get a good workout over the next few weeks. Shoots exceptionally soft but the brake is VERY loud. I’m considering just SBRing the lower and installing a BC 1.0.
This proves to be very addicting, I had my parts list together for my suppressed SBR build right after this one was finished…
Thanks to everyone for providing the info on this forum!
The FCS556 is very good at keeping the muzzle down but I definitely recommend ear protection.
I was a little torn between the EOTech and the Aimpoint T-1, I went with the EOTech because I am familiar with it and it has always worked well for me. The next build will get the T-1, I am looking forward to trying one of those out.
I purchased the upper from BCM, I don’t think they offered a 14". The 12 is long enough for me, but the 14 would let you mount a light further up. But then it would be lined up prefectly with the FCS556, and the concussive force would blow it to smithereens :sarcastic:
Great build pal, but on the Geissele SSA-E trigger…you really should be running the Geissele trigger pins, GA triggers were designed to use their own unique pins.
The pins that came w/ your trigger are chrome-moly steel that is rough turned, rough ground, heat treated and then centerless finish ground. They are truly precision crafted and are extremely high quality pins.
KNS pins on stock or g.i. triggers thankfully are just totally useless and don’t really screw up anything per say, however on GA triggers that were specifically designed to use their own pins, they not only are useless…they can be highly detrimental to the proper operation of the trigger.
You bought a true precision trigger in both design and manufacture, why not use precision made trigger pins rather than mass produced, one size fits all, $20 trigger pins?
Shitty/stock/g.i triggers…KNS pins are just useless
Geissele triggers…KNS pins are absolutely no good at all
Thanks for the info on the pins, I’ll swap them out when I get home today. I didn’t know it could affect the Geissele negatively. They can just collect dust in my parts box, at least I know better now haha.
