FIRST AR!

HEY, I’m jake I’m about to go purchase my first ar after work today. I’m buying the colt le6920 for 950 at walmart. Can I have everyone’s opinions on if I’m making a good choice for my first ar?

Congratulations and welcome. Definitely a good choice for a first AR. Unfortunately it is quite possible your first thread is going to get locked lol. Enjoy the new purchase though!

  1. Excellent choice for a first AR.
  2. This is not Facebook or Twitter, and this thread will be locked as soon as a mod sees it since it doesn’t contribute anything meaningful to the forum.

Did I post in the wrong area?

This section is more for specific questions about ARs rather than conversational posts that would be better made to Facebook.
There’s some good info here:

Most people here and the mods in particular try to keep “fluff” posts to a minimum so they can concentrate on informative discussions. That means “Hey I bought a rifle!” or “Is a 6920 a good rifle?” (it is) posts tend to get locked quickly. Don’t take it personally.

Well, there really isn’t any place to do a “Im buying XXX!!!,” type post or thread. If you want to take a picture and post it up then you can always place it in the AR Picture Thread. But since you are buying it anyway and asking for validation there really isn’t anything of value in this thread. Also, you are going to hear “Use the search function,” a bunch. There are a hundreds of 6920 threads.

Still though, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase! Enjoy it!

Kk sorry about that. Thanks for the info!

That’s what I love about this forum. Clean, and professional.

Congrats. Now you have to start buying ammo.

Do yourself a favor and get this upper http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Mid-Length-LIGHT-WEIGHT-KeyMod-KMR15-p/bcm-urg-mid-16elw-kmr15.htm and get a complete BCM lower (blem) from gnrtactical. You can thank me later.

You’ll eventually start to appreciate this forum’s style. It’s nice not having to scroll through multiple posts to either read or contribute to a post. This is one of the more serious minded forums and is where I tend to go to seek information. It sounds like you picked out a good rifle. Also read the sticky threads at the top of every forum & soak up that knowledge.

^^^^^^^^ This and some quality training…

OP, that rifle will serve you very well and as you shoot more and train with it can be adapted with quality parts to make it your own. There is a digital ton of great information here for you to read through that will guide you when you decide to change out parts on your rifle.

Go buy ammo and mags. Happy shooting!

I was going to keep my 6920 stock, then I got to noticing how much better it would be if it only had a better trigger guard, if it only had a rd sight, if it only had a better charging handle, you get the picture. Do yourself a favor and use the search feature to research what you would like to change on your rifle-and you will make some changes.

You did good.

Especially at that cost.

I paid $1097 and $1149 for the two I bought at Walmart.

The higher priced one came with Magpul furniture.

Sounds like a great deal, much better than my first AR was (DPMS :bad:) and as others have mentioned welcome to M4C and read and learn, and be ready to spend money you’ll get a head full of ideas
