First AR build in the near future.

Hey everyone, Ive been reading the forums here for a few months now trying to learn as much as possible before starting my build. I just finished reading “The Gun Digest Book of The AR-15” by Sweeney and learned a lot. I more than likely be ordering all of my parts from bravocompanyusa.com.

Just wanted to get some opinions on the parts I have chosen to see what everyone thinks or recommends.

Looks like a nice setup. Couple things different than I would do it, but that’s just personal preference.

One small thing though, I think you will need the extended A2 flash hider, and than you will need to have it permanently attached to be legal with that barrel unless you are going the NFA route.

That’s right. I recently got BCM’s 14.5" SOCOM upper with the A2X permanently installed. IIRC, the A2X and install is a $45 option and $135 for their bcg…

So thats another concern i have…with respect to NFA…if i want to keep just the threaded flash hider so later there is still the possibility of a suppressor…is it a pain to get approved?
i think Sweeney said its just filing out a form and waiting for the ok…is that all that is needed?

Never done it myself, but there is also a $200 tax you need to pay. Meaning I have never gone the NFA route, all my carbines have been 16" barrels.

Getting or making an SBR is fairly straight forward. Check out the NFA area here which will explain it in detail. The first thing you need to do is determine if they are legal in your locale.

I am not a big fan of permed barrels for a variety of reasons. I would look at putting a Battle Comp on there. I can’t say enough good about them.

I was looking at a BCM upper for my build. Untill I found a good deal on a Daniel Defense upper online(pm me if you want the link) It came out about $300 less. It is still top tier, and you can spec it out however you want.
