You should snatch up one of those 1/2 off vcas slings from BFG. I’m using fixed DD irons with an aimpoint micro in a DD fixed 1/3 mount . I’d wait on the AFG, unless you’ve ran one and know you want it. I bought one a ways back , and have since moved it to the parts bin.

Yeah the AFG isnt set in stone…hasnt been bought yet. Ive seen mixed reviews on them. It will be one of the last parts I get. If I decide to get it. I want to focus on getting a functioning rifle first before I get the add-ons.

Well pulled the trigger on the project today…updated above. Decided to go with the BCM 16" middy instead of the centurion. After running the numbers it fit my budget better letting me allocate money to other parts. In the end don’t think I will see much difference in that decision quality wise. Ive heard good things about both.

I would second the DD rear. I’ve tried Matech, LaRue, Troy and LMT, i like the DD the best. Check the EE here there are lots of high quality parts at great prices. I am still using a LaRue and Troy sights they’re great too. The DD is light and inexpensive.

I was looking at the matech just for the fact that im very familiar with using them since thats whats on my military issued M4. Ive been looking at the troy buis…But ill check out DD

My matech wouldn’t stay locked down. First I wanted to replace it with a new one, then I realized I didn’t mind it being up. I then realized that if I didn’t mind it being up, then I didn’t want it to be down when I wanted it up in a jiff. That’s what led me to a fixed rear.
If you plan on running a magnified optic, you would want a flip up.

Im leaning more towards a flip up. That way when im not using it its down and out of the way.

Yeah same thought here. I have a Troy on a gun with a TR24 and it stays down because it has to. The Troy on my other gun stays up. I tried the LaRue next and love it. The DD was the last one I tried. I really liked the LaRue but don’t need the QD and the DD is lighter and cheaper. I am keeping an LMT incase I need a rear with more adjustment or if I get another flat top upper. I have two Aimpointsand a TR24 and while I may buy more guns/uppers I don’t think I will be buying more optics. I have an A1& A2 upper build in the process. If you like the Matech and use it well go for it. The last two I bought on the EE were like $40 and they were new in the wrapper.

I like the matech besides it being what im used to but its affordable and allows for elevation adj. which isn’t a big deal to most people. But I like to shoot irons every now and then so having that option to adjust elevation when on the range shooting KD is nice. I like the KAC 600m adj sight but they are pretty expensive. But I’m kind of funny about shit sometimes when it comes to accessories. Don’t know if matech makes a flip up front sight but since I’m not using a fixed front sight I like whatever I use to be a set.

The KAC sights are awesome. I agree a matched set is a nice touch. All but one of my guns have a regular front sight base.

As much as i wanted something with adjustments I just ended up going with a set of Troy folding BUIS.

Just received my upper today from Bravo Company USA. What a great company to deal with.

You run the fixed rear sight at the same time with your RDS? I guess with a high-mount that works out… I think all the extra stuff in front would distract me though.

I agree on the AFG being an experimental piece (heck even Magpul calls it a “theory” device). I figure I’ll get one, toy with it, and sell it if it doesn’t work out. It’s only around $30 and should be easy to unload.

Yeah, everything I’ve read about them is superb. I think BCM will get my money more than a few times in the future.

For the optic, it seems Aimpoint is recommended a lot more than EOTech by more than a few people “in the know”. I kinda like the tube-style optics myself.

Good luck with the build!

It works very nice, the lower 1/3 co-witness is way down there.

I suggest running fixed rear buis for lower 1/3 cowit and folding for absolute. Forget eotech, go aimpoint.

The main reason why I chose to go with the eotech is for training purposes. I intend to train with this rifle to better myself in law enforcement once I actually get into the field. And all the departments around here use the eotec on their ARs. But then on the other side in my military career my issued rifle has an aimpoint. But i have never used an eotech before so Id like to get the experince with it.

It looks like a great build I have a lot of the same components on some of mine.

I have both the Aimpoint T1 on my 14.5" BCM and an EOTech XPS on my 10.5" and I actually prefer the EOTech over the Aimpoint. the Aimpoint looks sleek and is very tough, but I shoot faster at close range and more precisely at long range with the EOTech.

I have 3 AFG-1s, and an AFG-2 in my parts bin. After I even ran one in a Magpul Dynamics class…

I really like Troy BUIS.

Thanks Cam

Im hoping LMT is on the ball with getting the lower I ordered to my local gun shop. They didnt seem too sure when they would receive it. But im itching to shoot it now that I have the parts coming in. Even if it is with irons for a while.
