First AR build and DIY paint job

Hi,

New member here, thought I’d share my first and only AR thus far as well as before and after pics of the paint job :slight_smile:

-Lantac Dragon
-Sabre Defense 16" barrel
-Adams Arms mid length piston kit w/ one-piece bolt carrier
-Samson 9 EX handguard
-VLTOR MUR upper
-ICE ARMS NiB bolt
-JT15 80% lower
-Geissele SSA trigger
-RRA LPK
-LMT buffer tube kit
-MFT minimalist stock
-Troy BUIS
-Had a Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x but currently running an Aimpoint T-1

Why did you choose to go the piston AR route as oppose to a DI AR?

Honestly, I didn’t know any better besides the insides being a breeze to clean and less heat buildup. I did some quick researching but wanted to jump on some Christmas sales before they expired. If I had to do it again I would have saved that $300 and got a DI. Nothing wrong with it the piston, love mine, just not worth the extra $.

Very nice build! Looks light even for a piston…what do you think it weighs?

On the heavy side when compared to a budget AR I did with solely Magpul furniture and no optics. I don’t have a scale but the piston AR is close to 9-10lbs I think.
