Does anyone have any background info on the new Fiocchi Extrema EMB Expansion Mono-Block 100 Grain 9mm ammo?
Quoting from the ad: “Fiocchi’s EMB line is a high tech bullet. EMB features a peculiar design that varies the amount of expansion according to the hardness of the material impacted”
I’m not replacing my 127 +P+ ranger T 9mm ammo in my G19 or MP9 but I’m curious if anyone has tested this ammo. See link below.
It appears to be a lead free alternative defensive bullet. It has a very large post in the center. Not much on Fiocchi’s website. Found these pics on the net.
That post in the middle doesn’t look like it would aid in creating a large wound channel, it would move tissue out of the way of the expanded petals. JMO
I recently tested (unscientifically) a single round from the 3.6" bbl of an M&P9 Compact. It penetrated almost exactly 18" of water (3 1gal water jugs back-to-back) and was found just beyond the 3rd jug. The only halfway-decent test info I could find is here: http://www.raoulwagner.com/tests2005.htm
Here are a couple of pics of the expanded round I recovered, it measures .64" at the widest:
I’m surprised at the amount of expansion and penetration from such a light bullet out of a short bbl.

ETA: Unless they’ve come out w/a heavier loading, the EMB weighs 92gr, not 100.
