Well,

I got it and could not leave it alone.

First I was having problems with it feeding. So I…

Polished the chamber
Resurfaced the feed ramp and polished.
And Tuned the extractor.

Then once it ran correctly I…

Went with black baseplates and lanyard. All DE was too much. (Waiting on black mag release)
Meprolite sights
Apex DEACK
Streamlight TLR-1

Then I added a Dillion550 to the mix :smiley:

I Ended up using 200gr lead semi wad cutters and 4.2gr of bullseye as my range load. Cost me 11c per round to make!

Anyway here she is!

No good pics of chamber or extractor as Its a little carboned up… :slight_smile: I did scrape the buildup off of the ramp though so you can see.

Well I was having very frequent FTF, And that strip rides over every round as the slide recoils rearward… There was a lot of brass buildup on that section. So… I polished it. Not really necessary.

For the feedramp I used a progressive number of papers… I think I started with 320, then 400, 600. The use of a wooden dowel helped to keep the shape of the ramp. I also removed some material as the ramp blends into the chamber. If you look at the first picture you can see what Im talking about. I polished using a dremell type tool. They have a wheel that has rouge impregnated into it. Its just slightly larger then the diameter of the chamber. After I polished the ramp I just used the wheel to polish the chamber untill it looked like chrome :smiley:

Not a single failure in 1200rnd now I think.

Great looking M&P. Smith will send you frame plugs for the space where the safety bar was removed. I just snapped mine in today.

Very nice, is it easy to simply remove the safety from the pistol?

I always liked the DE 45 but didnt like the idea of a safety.

Very easy to remove the safety. Just need a 1/8" roll pin punch and a small hammer.

I just put the black backstrap on it last night… looks very nice now :smiley:

Thanks for the info about the frame plugs… I called smith and the man was not too sure what I was talking about and said that he would get back to me… No problem though. I put the safety back in last night because the trigger is very light, don’t want to accidentally catch it on something and shoot myself in the leg.

Call with the part number. They are 392460000 frame plug (Left side of frame) and 392470000 frame plug (right side of frame). If you call without, they will not sell them and act like they dont exist. Mine were 12 bucks including shipping.

That’s a very cool looking weapon.

I wanted my M&P with a tan frame, but all that I found was tan frame + manual safety. I didn’t want a manual safety. So I got the black one.

Very nice. The black backstrap and slide on the FDE frame add a nice contrast.
