You want to wear a mask, wear one. And wear a fitted and tested N95 that you regularly replace. This mask mafia stupidity had to end sometime. Why people thought that crappy masks, worn incorrectly, and taken off for 20% of the flight, would make a difference- that is what pissed me off.
And back to a bigger issue. The CDC should not be setting policy. Policy is from elected officials who weigh different competing needs. CDC will always say that some threat warrants some intrusion on your freedom- especially if zero-covid is your goal. Only someone that can weigh all the impacts- and can be held accountable- can make those decisions. CDC should make recommendations and provide guidance, they should never be setting policy.

I am sure Biden will appeal. Watch it get reinstated on May 2 only to expire on the 3rd so Biden can take credit for removing the mask mandates on planes.

The fact is that each of the public transportation companies have signed on to this madness. So if you go maskless tomorrow to “stick it to the man”, they’re still highly likely to deny you transport and have you removed by law enforcement if necessary. IF any of these companies comes out tomorrow and says “masks are now optional”, I don’t see any trouble coming of it. If they don’t, I don’t see how making trouble over the next 2 weeks advances freedom, or anything else for that matter.
Will Roger’s International Airport in Oklahoma City (which I fly out of every week) just said no masks. I’m hoping Delta says the same thing. I’m driving this week while on business travel but I have a flight next week to PA. Hope I ain’t rolling in a mask…
Just out of curiosity, without the valid CDC order, can a airline make you wear a mask? Or if you don’t I assume that the penalty has to be different. There has to be a limit to what an airline can make you do. Wear a burka? Wear a “I love Joe button”?
They can’t make you wear one, but they don’t have to let you in their planes either. They can deny boarding for any reason they feel like. It would be a civil court matter after that.
So, just looking at twitter it seems that they are saying that the airlines will shut down in three weeks because of COVID infections. Do these people realize that the crews aren’t wearing masks off duty and spend far more time there than working? Also BA2, 3, or 4 is coming and it is more catchy, so we are going to see more cases anyways.
