Anyone see they finally came out with a 7" kmr handguard on BCM’s site?
Literally a week after I bought a SLR rifle works handguard. Looks like I’m going to buy the KMR once they are in stock.

I’m in the same boat as the OP, except I hadn’t pulled the trigger on the SLR yet. I’m glad to see the 7" being released, and I’ll be snagging one for my .300 blk build.
Don’t get me wrong I LOVE my SLR handguard. But I want to keep all my rifles consistent between each one for simplicity’s sake. I may end up just keeping the SLR aground unless someone wants to buy it.

Ordered one yesterday. I waited about 3x as long for the 7" KMR as for the form 1 approval for the SBR it’s going to go on.
Even without the V7 barrel nut, it weighs less than the plastic M4 handguards (5.1 oz when I weighed mine a while back, not including the factory barrel nut, delta ring assembly, or the cap at the front). Impressive, for sure.
I ordered the 7" and ti nut. I have a really heavy 8" barrel I didn’t know pistol length lightweight barrels existed. I will change it eventually, or build an identical 5.56 rifle with a lightweight barrel
Im very tempted to get one of these. The question is if swapping out my DD for the KMR to save 3.3 oz is worth it? Probably not.
With a titanium castle nut it may be. I can’t find a 8" lightweight 5.56 barrel of this because I think a 7.5" is going to be too short for the end of the rails.
I don’t like the idea of sub 10" 556 guns but if I ever built one I would use a Noveske kx5 tucked under the rail.
