So, what’s the good, bad, and ugly about the ADCOM 5.56 M855?
Will be used out of a 20" Colt AR-15A2.

Please do not confuse the Winchester M855 sold by ADCO, with the foreign ADCOM M855 currently on the market.
I’m curious about the British ADCOM M855 as well.
OK, sorry I left the “M” off…does anyone have any feedback on the ADCOM M855?

I bought 120rds last month to test out in my Defender 2000 M4
Accuracy was on par withIMI,Lake City and Win M855 2 or 3 inch at 100 yrds
Brass is nice primmers crimp and sealed and black tar on the bullet ![]()
I paid alot for it . For a Box it was just under 5 bucks
and to think back in 2001 a box of Q3131A was 2.35
I have
ADCOM M855
IMI M855 1999
Win M855 1989
Lake City M855 1998 I bought back in 2001
Lake city M855 2001 came in a Can with bandoliers
Santa Barbra SS109 1993 THE most accurate SS109 I have shot
Sellier&Bellot ZV NATO SS109 2000 second most accurate and is loaded HOT
Out of all those the SANTA BARBRA SS109 is the most accurate SS109 I have ever shot!! Not counting BH MK262 and there super accurate 77gr Blue box and red. Thats out of a 14.7 hbar ,20 hbar bushmasters and 2 LMT M4 14.5
I had Chuck S. Test out the Sellier & Bellot SS109 before I would buy alot of it?
Chuck is the 50IBZ zero guy!
Chuck has help me out alot back in 2001 and others as well
Anyway the ZV NATO SS109 had a AVERAGE 3184 FPS @ 25yards and a SD 14
Wich for military ammo is pretty good .
The S&B is HOTTER than M855 specs
So its not TRUE that ALL M855 is hotter than SS109 type
I hope it’s worth a damn, I just bought 100,000 rounds:confused:
I’ll find out in the days to come and let you know.
Eric
Damn!!! 100K You should be good for a while huh… I know surplusammo.com sells it for pretty good prices.
I’m bumping this thread because I had the same results today as in THIS thread. Blown primers was the order of the day and temp was a mild 85 degrees. Buyer definitely beware.
I bought 400 rounds of this stuff at $3.99/box from the local Gander mountian, 98 Headstamp.
Inspected the 400 and all looked great. All fired great through my AR so I went back and cleaned them out and bought 1,600 more.
I chronoed the ADCOM M855 results vel avg for 5 shot groups
16" 2912
14.5" 2835
Cameron
I got the same ammo as Cameron at the same store.
So far it shoots great, and at $3.99/box I’m a happy camper.
I’ve not notice any signs of over preasure, bulged primers etc.
I was able to get a 5 shot group at 200 yards with open sights to hold about the 5" range. It prints about 1" or 2" lower than Q3131 at 200 yards.
So far I’m happy with it.
EDIT: That’s with a 16" Bushmaster carbine.
Overall, I’m pleased with the ammo. I did notice it has a higher pressure at the chamber and less at the port. Also, out of the first 1000 rounds shot, I had a few cases that popped primers, during ejection. No major failures or malfunctions, but if you have an AR with a lazy action, you might not have total lock back, on the last round hold open. The F2000 seems to LOVE it.
I’m very pleased with the accuracy.

 rat bastard…

From what i have heard the “bad batch” is the 99HS (1999)
eric, how do you know the differences of pressure between the chamber and port? i mean how do you measure that? not being a smart ass but its interesting to me, i like mechanical stuff like that
There is no such thing as British ADCOM. The British M855 style ammo is Radway Green. I have shot 720 rounds of the British Radway Green ammo and didn’t have a single problem with it, and the brass is pretty good for reloading.
Regarding the original topic of this thread… I ordered a case of ADCOM M855 from Sportsmansguide.com for $169 shipped and I have shot about 400 rounds of it so far without a problem. Most of this shooting was in 85-95 degree heat. I didn’t get any popped primers or anything of the sort, but a few cases did form a split in the neck after the first firing. The whole case is 98 headstamp, and most people seem to agree that the 99 stuff is what causes the problems… so maybe that is why I didn’t have any significant problems.
Good for reloading? Is it boxer or berdan primed? I thought it was berdan.
Go to the Arfcom/hometowns/washington room and ask that question. They had an organized shoot a couple weeks ago and had the ADCOM jack up three weapons. One, a complete LMT Rifle, pretty badly.
I’ve gone through 300 rounds of a 500 round case I have. It all seemed to go bang fine, there have been some issues with 99HS though.
It is boxer primed, I have already reloaded a few hundred of the cases.
What year was the stuff that “jacked up” three weapons, and were all of the weapons chambered for 5.56mm?
