FF Tubes and Heat?

I’m curious…To those who run free-float tubes that don’t have any plastic hand-guards such as the Troy TRX and VTAC…

Do these tubes not get wicket hot?
Do you have to wear gloves during heavy firing schedules?

HA! Thanks! I searched under the product names, and for “heat”

No luck…and I’m lazy, so…

I am curious about these two particular bare tubes though…as they don’t take plastic panels.

Wear gloves

This may shed some light on the subject for you:

I run a Viking Tactics rail. It doesn’t get that hot while plinking, but if I’m dumping magazines, it does get quite hot. I wear gloves now, problem solved…

Well, now you have an excuse to wear gloves.

Gloves are a solution…though I’d prefer not to have to wear them.

I’m surprised by the temperature readings I guess. I’ve never been burned by plastic parts on a rifle…can’t say the same for steel and aluminum.

Now you have an excuse to buy a REAL handguard!

I been thinking about asking www.gripreductions.com if they could spray on an approx .060" inch thick layer of their rubber grip texturizing on the gripping areas on mine. The auto industry also has different coatings to help block heat transfer.
