Fenix Lights

Everything that can be made in America, is made in America with a Surefire light. The only reason they don’t have “Made in the USA,” stamped on their packages is because like most companies, their LEDs come from overseas.

Beyond that, it isn’t like SureFire lights production geography matters. So what if the guy pushing the buttons on a Citizen, Makino or MoriSeki CNC machine is Chinese or American? SureFire was one of the first factories in the US to run “Lights Out,” where the whole floor could basically have bar stock aluminum shoved in one end and finished components out the other. Hell, SF’s factory is right across the street from one of the highest end CNC makers (Makino). SureFire’s price premiums primarily go to their profit margins, not employing scores of US workers…

Actually it does, if you want to support American jobs. I see on many gun sites (not sure here since I don’t enter GD), people complaining about American jobs being shipped overseas, in many of those cases the same people are drooling over their Fenix lights, saying that Surefire is overpriced.

So just because that fact isn’t important to you, doesn’t mean that the fact isn’t important to other users. Personally I’ve had issues with Fenix lights, and I found that customer service is non-existent. To quote the e-mail I got from Fenix “Return the light to the vendor.” While the vendor said, “It’s after 30 days contact the manufacturer.” Ultimately I fixed it myself, but the light never worked the same since then because the bezel is off by just a hair.

I had a broken Surefire light, Surefire not only replaced it no questions asked, but they upgraded me to the newest model (X200B to X300) after asking me if it was ok.

Anyways I am sure that Fenix might make good lights, but don’t blindly bash Surefire because you like Fenix lights.

$350 flashlight? Surefire only has 5 flashlights at that price point or above, and they are all super high end lights that aren’t replicated by anyone else.

Lets also not turn this thread into a bash Surefire thread.

Fenix offers a good quality light with good features for a reasonable price.

Surefire makes a good quality light with non-impressive features for a very, very high price.

Lets not turn this into a bash Surefire thread, and the third sentence after it, you are bashing Surefire.

Surefire never got into the lumens game, mostly because it’s a self defeating game, try taking a 300 lumen light, and search around the house after your eyes have adapted.

Same with the many modes on lights, my Fenix light has a half a dozen modes, but I only need two, but I have to select through them to find the mode I need. And of course it doesn’t turn on into the mode I need.

Compare to Surefire which tends to use just two modes per a light (with some exceptions), on the tactical lights they go straight into the brightest light because that is what you need with that light. But with the non-tactical lights, like my A2, it goes into a low power mode first because going into the high power (which is what I need there so I don’t blind myself reading a map in the cockpit).

I am not bashing anyone, it is the truth.

Compare the run times and features.

And for the where it is made, almost everything in this country is made in China. Our government and the unions have made the cost of doing business in this country too high. Often times the quality is not there either.

One thing I find funny is the die hard I buy American so it is Surefire only for me and then talk about how great their light became after they put an aftermarket Chinese made head on it.

Mine has held up to abuse very well thanks. I like Surefires too, as a matter of fact I have one on order right now.

You buy everything American made? From your car to your clothes to your sneakers? Good for you. Most Americans do not. I’m an end user, and I buy what works. Whether it is made in China, California or Zimbabwe makes little difference.
