Ive got this FEG AMD-65 that collects dust in the back back of the safe. The front sight post has a slight cant to it. POS quality and assembled in the us by Knox I think-(doesn’t really matter) anyhow. I think I have searched on here before, but cant remember if there is an easy fix to this problem. I remember someone that had been over seas had said the Northern Alliance folks would take bricks put them in a sack and know the shit out of the front sight to try and realign the sights.- I don’t think Im quite there yet. I would probably try and trade or sell and cut my losses before all of that drama. I thought I would submit another inquiry and see if there are other remedies.
Just because the Northern Alliance does something, that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea or will even solve the problem at all.
If you really want your front sight at 12 o’clock you are going to have to remove the FSB pins, move the FSB to the correct position, redrill the barrel grooves and then tap the pins back in.
The front sight base or just the post? The post moves left/right on the drum. Get a AK sight tool for like $15 and push the drum in whatever direction you want. The front sight base is different but a slight cant isn’t a problem. Move the sight post. That’s why it’s there. If you can’t correct it with moving the post then drive out the pins in the base, align and push the pins back. (Need tools). Smashing it with bricks or anything else is ****ing stupid. Remind me not to buy anything from Northern Alliance
If the rifle in question was built in the US using a real FEG receiver, then there’s pretty decent demand for it. A canted front sight post won’t take much away from the value as it’s not too difficult of a fix. If you don’t have the desire to shoot it even after it’s fixed, then just put it up on GunBroker.
