Feedback/Reviews on Elcan Red Dot RD (not DR)

I currently own a few & varied optics for my AR’s and am considering an Elcan RD.

I have had a hard time understading/reading much about Elcan’s new 1x Red Dot scope. They claim a 6 year (ACET) battery life similar to Aimpoint. I have seen/like the DR’s optical clarity, but would like to know if any of my M4carbine breatheren have seen/used the RD.

Thanks…

We got issued the new Elcan over the summer and to a man we HATE IT. They tried to say it is a good replacement for the ACOG but it is NOT. I would say look for something else.

I have used Elcans on crew served weapons and they where great. But for a fighting carbine it is a real ‘no go’.

Tc,

He’s not refering to the M145 or the DR my friend (both magnified). He is asking about the RD (or something closely named).

To the OP: Not much has been spoken regarding ELCANs RDS. It is claimed to offer AP like battery life but who really knows? If the price is right I’d say go for it as ELCAN has a pretty good reputation and maybe its just a bit of a “sleeper” optic? I would be interested in finding out what ELCAN regards as a “ballistic reticle” for their RDS? (Hopefully its a bit better then EOTechs version  )

Skip ELCAN for this model. Ernst Leitz CANADA (E L CAN) has great glass – what your losing in the RDS.

Aimpoint is THE RDS
