Federal Prison Guards Admit To Filing False Records During Jeffrey Epstein’s Suicide
Two former prison guards who were on duty the morning Jeffrey Epstein killed himself admitted Friday to falsely claiming they’d performed rounds in his section of the Manhattan federal detention center where he was being held, according to an agreement filed in federal court Friday afternoon, almost two years after the accused sex trafficker hanged himself and jail staff were blamed for failing to check in on him regularly.
That happened every single night when I was a CO. I was one of the few who didn’t falsify tour logs because I was worried that a suicide could happen on my watch and I would get prosecuted. It did happen at our jail to a few COs, and yet the rest just continued to do it because they said “Well, that won’t happen to ME, and nobody will rat me out…”
This coupled with the supposed treatment of the January 6th “insurrectionists” being held (most in solitary confinement) only further cements my belief that Federal law enforcement is rotten to the core and should be completely gutted, one agency at a time.
I’d speculate otherwise. I’d bet almost all jail periodic observation records are pure fiction. There’s no chance of getting caught until there’s a problem.
How about gas station restrooms? And, God help us, hospital patient checks?
Not true. A lot of guys fudge their tour logs, but rarely will a section go an entire shift without observation.
Why Epstein is suspicious is that he was taken off of 24 hour suicide watch. THAT came from above. Even then, they would have required extra tours of his section and they would have put guys on who had good reputations for NOT fudging their logs.
Sadly, I expect a lot of the 1/6 protestors will be found “mysteriously dead in custody” as examples to any other uppity proles who might get ideas about speaking against Das Reich…
And you’d be wrong. I’m sure you’re aware that most jails currently use electronic (Bluebirds) devices that only show a check has been made if the guard has the device up against the cell door tag or sometimes inside the cell itself. Most jails have multipe cameras in place. I can read the logs everyday, and to be honest there are many times a check is late, but it is made. I can walk in and look at the large screen TV on the wall and see all the red cells(late) flashing. It amazes me how fast they’ll turn blue I get a supervisor on the radio. Not much good occurs in jails, but you shouldn’t opine about something that you know not of which you speak.
Yup, it just doesn’t make any sense. And for this to happen at a federal facility no less. The highest paid jailers, the highest budgets, the most technology available and it happens.
