Hello all. I am currently running an EoTech 516 on my RECCE and wanted to put all FDE components on it. I know that the 553 is available in FDE but I’m wondering if there is a solution other then painting mine. Can I buy the metal cover and battery comp in FDE for the 516? Thanks

I’ve been thinking of exactly this also, but I have a 512 a65.
I’ve been researching and I saw you can buy hoods and battery boxes from L3.
You would need parts for the 553.a65TAN, the only model I know of that is factory tan/fde.
Problem is the 553 hood wont work with your 516 as the 553 has rear mounted controls and your 516 has side mounted controls with holes on the hood to access. Different base too as the 553 has cut outs for the throw lever mount.
The battery boxes look the same though, they’re both CR123 powered.
So I guess you could try to order the 553 battery box and maybe you could order the battery box lock lever too. Then all you would need to paint is the hood.
Me, I’m SOL as nothing from the 553 will work with my 512 and I will have to paint everything if I want fde.
I doubt the quality is high but might be an option…
