Ok fellow gun nuts, after 15 yrs of service as an 11B, in mostly the 4th ID, I surely know my way around just about all squad used weapon systems. However, I know most believe soaking your M4/AR will make it run better/longer. After a few trips to the sandbox, I now think the lube impregnated bolt carrier is now what everyone wants. As far as on the civilian side, is the Failzero looked upon as the best reviewed non-lubed system? Please share experiences, good or bad.
It has been proven that the AR platform runs better wet then dry. Try doing a search for the FailZero, it has been discussed many times.
Yeah, I tried the search, mainly found subjects FROM the Failzero rep, rather have an unbiased, user review, thanks for nothing…
Here you go. I have a friend that runs one on his gun and it’s nice but I personally wouldn’t spend the money on it. More ammo would be a better investment.
Well, not to my amazement, it looks like it would work, but it sure is against everything we all have been drilled into our heads, as far as PMCS. I think I will save the money for more ammo…Thanks again

I’m very interested in the FailZero parts and it appears that it could make cleaning a lot easier…and I hate cleaning:mad:.
In the function of the AR, I’ve learned that the quality and correct spec of the parts is really the most important part to reliability and function. It would be great if the spec of the FailZero were top notch, and I could get the benefit of the EXO plating.
So, how is the quality and spec of the FailZero uppers and BCGs? Grant, you seem to be very knowledgable on this…so I’m looking in your direction.
The quality is what you’d expect from mil-spec parts; since I believe FailZero gets their bcgs’ from a military contractor prior to plating.
Have 3 of these, I don’t use the hammers. They work great, I would still lube though. Your still going to get dirty with a DI gun. The carbon just comes off much easier. I know Stickman was going to use it in a long term beater rifle, I’m not sure how that project ended or if it did.
That would be the smartest thing they could do, but I don’t think they are HPT.
Yes, on their website they don’t list HP testing. However, I still think FailZero may test fire their bcgs’ a few times because I remember mine came dirty with carbon deposits.
how long does the finish last on yours? any wear signs?
2 of the rifles have around 200rds through, the BCG appears brand new as does the interals of the upper. The 3rd rifle has about 1000rds, the BCG also appears new, but the upper shows minor internal wear at the usual contact points. I still keep everything lubed and I still clean after every use. I don’t know if I’m a good test case because I keep everything immaculate. I’d be curious to see what happens if a rifle was ran dirty for an extended period, however my OCD will not let me find out! 
Their uppers come from a .Mil supplier so they are just fine I think.
I have attempted to KG coat one (flat black) and it didn’t adhere well. So I am going to try another method soon to see if that works better.

I have a BCG and hammer in my shorty AR, and it runs beautifully. The carbon and fouling come off a lot easier with the XO coating, so I’ve considered buying more, but I’m finding it hard to justify the cost on rifles I already have with BCM BCG’s. If I did another upper build, I would probably buy one of these again, though.
Indeed I have been using Fail Zero BCGs, in fact, I’ve been using one since they first came out. I have had zero problems, and have used them in FA, suppressed, and semi auto fire.
I’m currently working on a review for Military Times regarding the Fail Zero BCG, but there are some unrelated issues that popped up that I need to deal with before I can complete everything. No problem with the Fail Zero parts at all.

Is the upper you mention a standard upper or the EXO treated FailZero upper? The failZero upper isn’t that much more than a standard upper, it’s cheaper than a VLTOR MUR. Right now, I’m trying to decide between the VLTOR MUR and the FailZero Upper.
