F15 shot down in Iran

My Dad did several hundred jumps with the old T-10’s. I could here his knees and ankles pop everytime he stood up and my bedroom was on the second floor.

The seat separates before landing.

Best landing I’ve had was on a thin blanket of soft snow from a 60.

Considering what I think a car would do to a person at 65, I don’t think that’s accurate. The MC-6 that SOF use for static line has I think 11 knots of forward thrust, which is supposed to be counteracted to some extent by turning into the wind. I don’t remember what the T-11 is and never jumped the T-10.

If you forget to do that or read the wind wrong though, you could be going much faster.

Back on topic though, that rescue sounds gangster AF.

I will be interested to hear the actual details of the recovery of both pilots once the chatter and hype minus details calms down.

Apparently it wasn’t just a “chopper in and pick him up” type of mission. We evidently had SOF on the ground shooting it out with the IRGC. Big firefight. As Will mentioned, it will be interesting to hear the details (assuming they divulge all of it) once the dust settles. Might not be until the war ends so as to not hamper any future rescue ops if needed.

I would think the window for the quick chopper pick up is narrow and closes quickly, then the risks to all involve go up sharply. Everyone converges on an area and contact becomes imminent. I hate to sound like a jaded A hole but the screenplay probably in process as I write this.

CA gives some good details on rescued pilot:
