Some time ago when it was the only game in town I bought a couple of Bushmaster super lightweight barrels. I’ve been using one for years and it’s worked very well for me.
I’ve just had the second one mounted on a flat top upper receiver and am having the usual point of aim issues. I tried a longer front sight post and running the rear sight all the way down but it still shoots about 4in high at 25M.
It’s a KISS rifle and I’d like to stay with irons if possible. Right now I plan on running an LMT BUIS which I like very much in this application. I know some non milspec A2 carry handle sights can shoot different POA’s so I’m going thru that trial and error process to see if it helps to use a carry handle sight.
This is a very sweet handling weapon so in the mean time I’m thinking about a more permanent fix with a new F FSA if I can find one that will fit.
Is it possible that someone makes or can make me a new F marked FSA for my Bushy super light weight barrel? The challenge is that it’s .625in under the FSA.
I bought a couple of .625" “F” FSBs from CMMG a few months ago. I was going to have ADCO swap out a Superlight FSB on a new barrel like you’re considering, but then DD started offering their 14.5" and 16" pencils and I lost interest.
IIRC it’s about $125 to buy the FSB and have it installed. Doesn’t it make more sense to buy a new DD barrel for roughly twice that, especially when you consider you could unload the Superlight to recover the difference? Either way would be about the same out-of-pocket.
