Supposedly these are USA made more than likely overseas parts assembled in America but nevertheless they have the Leupold name on them, but does that really mean anything because i cant really find squat on these models aside from there reviews.
I had a mark AR that wasnt bad for the money. This one is probably vx1 level glass and no illum. Prob not bad but nothing great. It will hold it’s oxn in that price range
If you could find a Burris mtac 1x4 on sale it would probably be a little better
Not one of the freedom models, but I have a VX R Hog I really like which usually gets pretty good bang for the buck reviews on glass clarity and weight.
To the best of my knowledge, the non illuminated VX Hog is the same as my VX R other than the electronics.
When those pop up for sale they are about the same price as the Freedom models.
And likely not a thing wrong with the freedoms, just bringing up an option that tends to get good reviews for about the same cost. Lifetime warranty on everything except electronics so kind of hard to go wrong with any of their offerings in the rare case there is an issue.
I own a VX-R 1.25x4, it is my only LPVO and the only one I’ve spent considerable time with. It is ok for an older Leupold optic, the 1.25 magnification is the biggest detractor for me but the glass is fine and it gathers plenty of light. I don’t have scope caps but I imagine the red dot would be more useful with the front scope cap closed for close work. The magnification dial is damn stiff, even with MGM Switchview.
I plan on upgrading it at some point in the future
