Let us know how it turns out. I would be curious to know the origin of the problem.
If everything is level and you were able to zero your rifle than you are fine. When I recently zero’d my Centurion Arms 14.5 middy using a Troy rear I had to adjust 6 clicks to the right from mechanical zero to get my zero centered. Not all rifles zero equally some need more adjustment than others.
I’ve had similar issues with polymer sights. Hate having to swap them around till I find one that suits a particular barrel but, customers want what they want and not what I’d like to see them use.
If you can get an LMT A2 NM rear sight or a NM grade carry handle you will be able to see definitively if it’s the barrel or the rear sight.
I just installed Magpul sights on my 6920 and they zeroed in the exact same way, to the left. I just installed a Centurion 12" about a month ago. Had the rear sight for a while and used it with the A2 front sight. Everything lined up just a click or two off center, don’t remember which side. Changed the handguard and installed front sight and it is adjusted way to the left just like the OP has in his picture. Glad mine ain’t the only one. Still works just fine.

Glad to hear that others have the same issue with, what would seem to me to be, excessive windage.
A while back I completed my first upper build with a Noveske 16’’ barrel, and I’m having to move the rear aperture pretty far to the right (further than I recall ever having to shift it before). Being my first build, I was a little nervous that I had somehow screwed up when installing the barrel.
I wonder, though, what would be the primary cause of this? Would it be an anomoly in my sight picture, or could some barrels just behave differently (or both)? I’m able to zero it so I’m not too concerned, but just curious now.
I went to the range with a buddy who has a new Stag Model 1 to sight in. I used his carry handle to check to see if it made any difference. It made none. With the Stag carry handle I needed 20 clicks of left windage to center shots at 100 and 200 yds. I put the magpul back on and needed 21 clicks at 200 yds. His Stag need 2 clicks left of center for a 200 yrd zero. After seeing the how centered the Stag was, I’m inclined to think the front sight is canted.
I’ll see what the manufacture says…
It must be canted a bit. Have you loosened your barrel nut and tried to rotate the barrel a bit? It might just be a degree or two, but I’ve seen where you can seat the barrel and it rotate a bit in the upper.
I am a believer that all barrels react or behave differently. That’s the reason we sight them in. Because if they were all the same the manufacturer would have them sighted in for you from the factory or give you the exact number of clicks to have it zero’d out of the box. Just my .02
This!
The front sight on my M-1 rifle is moved to the left considerably. But it’s nice because it hits in the middle.
Touche’. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
To some extent I agree. Thats what windage is for, to adjust. But 20 clicks? I have 4 CMP M1’s. 2 are Correct WW2 Springfield’s, 1 H&R and my favorite a IHC. Plus 3 AR’s (2 colts and a CLE service rifle) None are more than a few clicks from center. In fact out of a packed full fatboy 64 safe, I only have two that are questionable (well now 3). A mid 90’s arsenal SLR-95 that I had to put an RPK rear sight on and a Lithgow Enfield that I had to push the front sight over to zero. Anyways… I guess I just thought that as popular as these carbines are that companies would have some way of putting out a more centered front sight! Not being critical as i’m seeing this is more common than I thought!
As long as it’s zeroed, I don’t see what the problem is… all rear sights are not created equal, and the range of adjustment is there for a reason.
20 clicks off center sounds a bit excessive.
So I thought I’d update this tread. I contacted the manufacture with an inquiry about the windage and what they thought. It took while to get someone but when I did they were very helpfull and paid to have have the upper returned to look at it. I received it back a week after sending it with a letter about how they found it out of their specs and take pride in their products and repaired it. They sent a target that said it was zero’d with one click of right windage. I put levels across and it again and it looks more aligned. It’ll be a week or two befor I can get to the range to verify but its a good start! ![]()
Hmm… Hearing that makes me want to take another look at my installation job. Did they happen to mention exactly what was out of spec?
I recently came into a kac 600 micro, and am now having to adjust the windage ALL the way to the right. So now I’m looking for a remedy more than just being curious.
If anyone has any ideas, it’s a 16 inch CL Noveske on a Vltor upper and casv-m. The last rear sight was a troy flip up.
They said they straighten the front sight. I’ll have to look at the letter again and see the exact statement but they did say the the repair was on the front sight. Now I don’t know if they just replace the barrel or somehow un-canted that whole front sight but at least with the receiver level the front sight is now level too! Still have to get to the range to confirm…
I went to the range yesterday and confirmed the upper has been fixed. It required 2 clicks of right windage at 100 yrds. Function was 100%. Now I can move on to finish collecting parts for my 3 gun upper…
I agree also I have come across rear sights that do not align true.
