Why did you decide against the UBR?
Not an uncommon story. Although most wouldn’t admit they get on the gear carousel.
The best lesson I’ve learned on gun stuff is that… You don’t really know what you want until you have it.
That, and if it looks cool in a picture thread, it’s probably really HEAVY!

Did Batman sign that trigger guard when He gave it to you?
It’s not quite a pound heavier than a CTR. I’ve debated on changing mine back to a CTR, but the DD MK18 rail makes it seem front heavy without the UBR. I can see that the VTAC with UBR might be the opposite.
Agreed. I think the UBR has it’s place on front heavy guns… But I guess I have never thought best solution to something heavy was to add more weight 
I think it’s a great post here. You can see it from heavy and doodads to light and clean. Good for you getting rid of the KNS pins and BAD level, and the quad rail also, I think those are pretty common trends.
I personally don’t like the comp or troy rail, but to each his own. I’m in for a socom flash hider when I can get it and the Noveske NSR rail when I get to it. But anyhow… Thanks for posting all that, I think you’re in a much better place than when you started.
However… I think you probably could have a saved a lot of money by just buying a stock DD or Colt or whatever and after using it figured out what you really wanted later. I wish I had gone that path!
This has been over the course of three years the main components, Noveske barrel, DD 10.0 and VLTOR upper, have remained the same through much of the process. After reading “Green Eyes, Black Rifles” I took Kyle Lambs advice and if something didn’t work I got rid of it. At the time I pieced this rifle together complete AR’s were VERY hard to find and were priced well above what I could spend all at once. So I spent $200 or so at a time.
I feel like the “buy a colt” etc. gets tossed around as to not offend the M4C gods. A stock whatever isn’t what I wanted, not to say it isn’t a fine rifle. It just wasn’t what I wanted. Grant it initially I had no idea what I wanted but I think it’s a process.
I didn’t get rid of the KNS pins or BAD lever, I just moved them to my other rifle. I love the BAD lever.
The trigger guard is Knights Armament.
The Effin A really is a cool piece that makes a difference. It’s not as main stream as some of the other stuff but I think it’s better than every other comp that I have tried.
The UBR was heavier than I wanted so I traded it for a PRS on a precision build I had.
Glad some of you enjoyed the photos, I thought it was an interesting post outside the realm of the usual.

Did you have the furniture hydrodipped?
Yes I did it myself. Bought a kit online practiced on some stuff and went for it. Very durable.
Looks like it turned out pretty good, what kit did you use? I’ve been wanting to try my hand at hydrodipping…
