The world economy is causing energy and food prices to rocket up…and then will come shortages. A growing “nothing to lose” attitude among the down and out will mean death or the free food and roof in prison may be better than what they face otherwise. The breakdown of civilization becomes overwhelming. Religions, cultures, and nations at odds, ever more violently. Threats of new plagues and epidemics that can’t be beaten by science.
So, everyone ready for this real life version of a Hollywood movie? Time to set up armed communities of like-mided people stocked for the great upheaval? Go it alone as the roving bands come for your goods? Interesting.
I saw a segment of CNN yesterday that Sam’s Club, Costco and B.J.'s are all limited purchases of Flour, Corn and Rice to their customers. Quite the opposite, they used to want customers to buy the above items by the pallet.
I have never in my lifetime in this country seen food being rationed. I never thought I would see that either. The last time that happned was W.W. 2. There are a lot of serious problems that need to be dealt with.
I’m on the LEFT Coast and I too have NEVER seen so much PRESSURE in people’s faces.
In general they are UNCERTAIN in FEAR of their security/future/pressures in day to day living/stress/finances/overpriced housing market/scams/lieing polititians/frauds/entitlement issues/immigration etc ad infinitim.
Don’t think it is here just yet BUT something is brewing and percolating in people’s minds.
The world has gotten OVERPOPULATED and lost some of it’s INNOCENSE and COMPASSION.
The politians who are finally in a postion to make changes CANNOT because they are so compromised with their BIG Corporate Agendas with LOBBY interests and alliances cannot …
It’s not a joke. The only reason more Americans dont have a grim outlook is our high quality of life.
Energy, food costs, and housing costs are now out-pacing average incomes in the USA, which means they are already past income in the rest of the world.
We lag behind most of the world when it comes to negative economic impact. When other people are rioting over grain costs, Americans take less vacations and trade Hummers for Crossovers.
Make no mistake, the grim times are coming because we’ve gone way too deep, and people have gotten too rich and have no interest in a correction.
These are scary times, and if you’re attitude is, everyone hurting is just living beyond their means, then your ignorant and need to open your eyes.
I do believe that bad times are on the horizon and it will happen. People have lived off credit for so long and now it is coming back to bite us in the ass. Too much of our goods are made overseas and too many foreign countries are deeply invested in the US and can at any time roll out and leave us hanging. China is one country that could easily screw us if they decided to pull out financially.
China would only do so if they decided they wanted to destroy their economy along with ours. Which considering who they are and how much power they have over their populace they just might, but it would hurt them severely.
Anyone here want to chime in that they have recently started loading up on ammo, guns, water, food, spare parts, fuel, etc, as a result of things mentioned in this thread?
One month ago my company moved me from Idaho to San Jose, which is the big, crowded area at the bottom of the San Francisco Bay. The day I moved here I started buying a lot of extra storable food and water every time I went for groceries. I brought a stash of ammo with me when I moved, but I think I’ll order some more. The Gas prices here are on the brink of $4 a gallon and food prices are already high. Everywhere I go it’s crowded. In the newspaper yesterday they reported that San Jose is right on the edge of 1 million people. Can you believe that? An entire valley packed to the rim full of people who import every scrap of food they consume. What would happen if the food trucks stopped coming? How long until every commercially available morsel of food was gone? What would happen then? I get the feeling that our ‘society’ is a very thin illusion which sits in the minds of the majority as long as they have food, water, and electricity. Remove any one of those three for long enough and you’ve got a million hungry neighbors with their own survival on their mind. I’m not too optimistic about my chances if things go south while I’m still here in Cali… I hope I can escape back to a less crowded, freer state before then.
Being in California I get to call it Earth Quake preparedness, but between the Ham Gear, Dirt bikes, the 4x4, the generator, and all the back packing and camping gear… We are pretty much ready for either an extended hunker in place or a rapid exit from the Bay Area…
Guns and ammo have always been in fairly good supply, but the addition of the tactical set up on the Mossberg 500 and the AR15 are indicators of what I’m more concerned with having to point the business end at… before I was primarily set for hunting…
sigh, it’s a sad situation… So many Americans, on both sides of the aisle, have a nasty case of head in the sand… The party lines are, as far as I’m concerned, a deliberate and tactical division of the nation… We are so busy taking sh*t shots at each other that few seem to notice the wolves are running amok in the coop…
Not recently but I did start about 10 years ago. I figure I have about a 6 month food supply for 3 people. 2 - 3 months of water if rationed properly as well as a hand pump Reverse Osmosis water filter good for about 100,000 gallons if I need to filter dirty water. Also a large tent if I need to live in the mountains awhile. Also enough potassium iodide tablets for my whole family as well as a medical grade hepa air purifier.
It’s probably overkill to most people but I’d rather be prepared than not.
just curious but has anyone ever come across a survival handbook that has everything from making soap and gunpowder to medical supplies from plants? i mean if society broke down far enough theres only so long you could go before everyone were cavemen basically. it would be nice to know what rocks to melt for copper which plants to eat to rid myself of an infection.
i just continue to stock up which i have always done on all the required stuff. i cant say that i am done, but working on it. more ammo, canned / packaged foods, water filters and other stuff. trying to get the wife to authorize funds on a motorcycle.
the only thing about the chicoms that worries me is their continued pursuit of amphibious ships and equipment. not to mention airdrop capabilities. internet violations which could be for prepositioning. their control of our bonds and monies. am i off the deep end here?
The Great Depression is exponentially worse than what we are experiencing right now, so “End of Days” is STUPIDLY hyperbolic.
Could times get real tough? Yup. Is this going to be the end of the world? Hardly.
We are experiencing the first honest-to-God recession we’ve had in at least 20 years (really more like 30) and because people have had it so good for so long they are panicing about a “Depression.”
I mean shit man, the unemployment rate is still lower than it was 13-14 years ago. Real GDP is still positive growth.
