Ever use one of these? 300 Blackout Cut off Trimming Jig

Saw this trimming jig on Ebay and was wondering if anyone has used this before. If not, what do you use? Looks pretty interesting.

Yep, as long as you have a small Harbor Freight mini chop saw or something similar.

I made my own out of plywood. Just use a router to cut a v-slot down the the middle longways. Then drill a hole and glue a small dowel for the length of brass needed (a little longer than SAAMI length, then use a trimmer). It’s kind of crude, but it works. Plus it was free from some scraps in my garage.

I have been wanting something a little more precise though since I still have to turn the necks down to length. The jig in the original post has my attention…

Like this one better.

One of the mods there is a respected member of M4C (and works for AAC…)

Not cheap, but soon Dillon is expected to release an updated version of their power trimmer that is supposed to make quick work turning .223/5.56 brass into 300blk. I hear it should be out this summer. Might be worth a look.

This is the one I use and it is da bomb… makes quick work of cutting down 223 cases!

I use the one from 300blktalk and it’s pretty slick

The destruction of perfectly good 5.56 brass should be a felony.

So…you’re saying that more people should use 6.8 SPC instead?

Well the military is going to switch to that round… so… :sarcastic:

What I want to know about is what is the proper tool to trim/chamfer? the case after cutting but before resizing? I’ve got the chopsaw/jug, and I’ve got a tumbler, but I’m not sure what else I need to do to get the brass ready before resizing…Want to buy a reloader, but just not there yet…

The length is close enough to resize directly after trimming. Then I use this after sizing. You still have to chamfer the brass unless they’re just plinking rounds, then I wouldn’t worry about.

Actually I heard they were bringing back the 6mm SAW :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not destruction just change sort of like when a caterpiller becomes a butterfly.

True. A butterfly can’t fly straight either. :sarcastic:

You got a pic of your setup with this? And what to Chamfer with?

I’ll get some pics posted sometime this weekend.

This is mine, love it. Way better if you have lots to do.

That’s one loonnnngggg weekend…I’m still hanging in there waiting for your pics…

If you have a cutoff jig and chop saw, you can set the cutoff length close enough to cut, size, then trim and chamfer. I don’t use the Little Crow, but an old school Forster trimmer, works fine and if you get your cut set right, you don’t have to trim much and you will only have to trim once, they really don’t grow like a longer bottleneck case. Chamfering can also be done by hand, that’s how I do mine. A little on the outside and a little on the inside using a standard RCBS chamfering tool.

I have done hundreds and hundreds of rounds from 223/556 to 300AAC like this and it goes pretty quickly.
