Even DPMS lPK's suck. See inside

In a moment of weakness when I decided to build a 22lr ar. I used a DPMS lower parts kit because that was all I could get at the time. Now just 2000 22 lr rounds later the hammer pin broke today. Luckily I have lots of spare pins. But this is insane.

while im not a huge fan of DPMS, especially their rifles, i think their LPK’s are alright. this is the first instance ive seen of this and i believe spikes tactical uses their LPK’s in their complete lowers, and they sell them on their website as well. i havent herd of any problems with the LPK’s in their guns goin tits up.

Anyone else had any problems with DPMS? I have 2 LPK’s I was going to use!

I have read about people having issues with DPMS LPK’s. Does anyone know how the quality is for the Spikes Tactical LPK’s ? Or who makes them for Spike’s ?

DPMS parts have always sucked. Back before I knew any better, I went through three DPMS triggers because of improper heat treat (they started to get gouges on the trigger nose).

Lots of reports of problems with DPMS kits having issues. If you’ve never seen them then you’re not looking hard enough.

yes, Spike’s uses (or used, last time I checked) DPMS internal parts.

And again.

this is the only place i really read and this is the first ive seen of it. that really sucks. i think i just lost a little faith in spikes tactical. i thought they build a really good rifle, their lowers seem to be awesome. but if they are using DPMS for their LPK and those are problematic, sorta makes me question the rest of the rifle. thing is, my upper from them seems really nice. parkerizing under the FSB, F marked FSB, properly staked gas key etc…

Theres mot a brand of rifle, parts ect that HASNT had a problem at sometime

One trigger pin broke and DPMS sucks

I heard about a COlt that broke, guess they suck too!

This is not an isolated incident.

3 of my 6 rifles have the DPMS LPK

Rifle 1: ~3000 rounds

Rifle 2: ~10000 rounds

Rifle 3: ~500

Till one of my actually DPMS LPKs break, I’ll still keep using them. My one rifle with 10K+ rounds was the very first rifle I ever built from the stripped lower back in 07. Myabe I’ve been lucky?

I believe it was on arf, someone broke two hammer pins in his spike’s lower using the dedicated upper. Is there something about how the bolt operates in a .22 conversion that strikes the hammer differently while resetting it?

Oh, and DPMS LPKs suck, as is evidenced here.

Thank you, Out of the twenty years that I humped for Uncle Sam, I’ve seen my share of COLT parts fail. But I didn’t loose my faith in the pony’s. I through in a spare and kept on going. Patriot:eek:

.22 conversions and uppers put more stress on the hammer pin as per Spikes Tactical.

Yes every brand has made a lemon but some brands like DPMS have a lot more lemons than reliable guns produced.
Pat

Yep you are correct…he broke a few pins, the conversion seems to put similar stress as a 9mm bolt.

BTW one hammer pin does not mean squat about DPMS.

BTW this is not the first problem I have experienced with DPMS. Its just another failure in a long history of suckage.
Pat

My DPMS has about 5000 rnds. thru her, And never failed me yet !

Really. For starters that is not really that many rounds but it is surprising to see any DPMS piece of crap make it even that long without something breaking down. They make pure crap.

Alaskapopo,

Have you attempted to contact either DPMS or the vendor to make this right?
