Eotech XPS2-0 Anybody running this?

Just wanted to find out if any of you are running a Eotech XPS2-0 and if so, what is your take on it. trying to decide between this one and the 512. It takes a single CR123 battery and doesn’t take up as much room as the 512 which is nice because I plan on mounting a magnifier behind it later on. Just a little worried about pulling the trigger on this purchase though. I just don’t see a whole lot of people using the xps2-0. If you own one, let me know what you think about it. Thanks!

Have one. I like it; suits my needs.
Keep in mind that I’m not running a high round count on that particular gun and optic, but so far, no hiccups, or worries. I recall reading that part of the reason for the new battery placement was to eliminate one of the problems with the earlier EOTech, but I can’t back this up.
One nice thing is that because of the shorter OAL, you can mount a magnifier behind it more easily.

I have two of them up and running. Very good Made In America build quality and a very reasonable price if you shop around and use the current Eotech rebate program. It was a toss up between the Aimpoint “M” series and the Eotech XPS line when I built my rifles. I don’t regret my decision in the least!

Definitely get the XPS. The XPS should really be considered a gen 2 Eotech. It solves the problem the old two-battery models had with their battery terminals wearing out and shutting off the unit when the batteries shift under recoil. I’ve had two of my old USGI AA battery models shit the bed due to battery terminal problems so I bought my own XPS to take on deployment. I didn’t have any problems with the XPS and I went from winter to summer in Afghanistan; cold to hot. I don’t know why anyone would buy a non-XPS Eotech anymore. If you’re worried about battery costs, which are insignificant compared to ammo, then just get some rechargeables. There’s also an EXPS with a built in riser and quick detach out that’s even better than the XPS.

There have been a literal pant-load of threads on the XPS and EXPS EoTechs. Do a search, hell, just scroll down through the Optics Sub-Forum and you will see them.

Here is the basic summary of them:

People that like EoTechs love them.
The EXPS QD mount seems to be good to go, the perpendicular battery arraingement eliminates loss of contact failures, and as a whole represent the height of EoTech evolution so far.

People that put a lot of stock in the battery life and robustness of Aimpoints still don’t like them, since they don’t address the issues that they care the most about.

I own both, and both have their applications.

I picked one up off the EE here and so far am pleased with it. But it’s my first HWS, so I’m not going to be of much help as to its robustness or its operation.

If you’re considering one though, you might want to check out the OPMOD at Optics Planet: Optics Planet OPMOD It has a built-in riser and buttons on the side.

I have a few Aimpoints and two EotechXPS2-0’s. Both of my Eotechs get a lot of use and have yet to fail me but neither have my Aimpoints.

Thanks for all the input guys, very helpful. I’ve decided to go with the XPS.

You wont be let down.

So how’s the battery life?

supposedly 600 continuous hours at nominal setting 12 but I’ve heard everything from 400 to 700.

That’s acceptable. I’m more worried if it will drain batteries while turned off.

In my experience it won’t. I had one of the old n-cell Eotechs and it would drain them like crazy but that was the only model that I’ve seen do that. The XPS I use doesn’t drain while off.

Eotech XPS will be my next investment

Picked up the xps today. Very nice product. Here’s a few pics of it mounted…

I just sold my MSAR, so I only have 1 XPS EOtech now. But I prev had 2. They are great. I prev had a 511 model, and yea, battery life sucked. I sold it and picked up the XPS2-0 model. Great optic.

I haven’t drained the battery yet - but I still switch out batteries every 6 months just out of habit.

If cost is an issue - go to Lowe’s. You can buy a 2 pack of Surefire 123’s for $4.99. The people over at Candlepower Forum have tested all the various brands of 123s, and Surefire 123’s are among the best.
