So which one do you like better for your AR-15 16" barrel. EOtech Holographic sight or 1-4x30 tactical scope? And why? I just wanna see different opinions from folks here…
Thank you.

On a 16in gun I prefer a TR24G… On 1x with the triangle it’s like using a red dot, on farther shots you can use the tip of the triangle to make more precise shots.
On short barreled rifles I prefer a red dot. I’m not a big fan of eotech. I have a 512 thats been a good optic but, I dont trust it with all the negative press they get. I prefer the aimpoint dot over the eotech reticle as well as the aimpoints battery life and known reliable track record.
If you have corrected vision I’d go with the scope.
A good 1-4,5,6 scope over the Eotech any day. The days of the full size dot sight are limited. Why own a full size fixed 1x sight when you can have a variable power scope that can do so much more or a smaller red dot sight like the AImpoint T1 that can do the same thing at less than 1/2 the weight.

I have no experience with variable power optics - about 90% of my shooting is less than 100 yards and about 75% is less than 50 yards. If I ever need to shoot at distance, I slip on a 3x FTS magnifier in front of my Eotech.
I agree that the weight and battery life of the T-1 is a convenience. For me, for my use…nothing more than that.
You mean you put a magnifier behind your Eotech. That is a viable solution to a degree but it still does not fully compete with a good variable scope. At the ranges your shooting a red dot is fine. But I prefer to be able to stretch my rifles legs out to 600 yards.

Yes, I agree…the magnifier is not the best solution for shooting long distance. If I were shooting at that distance a lot, I’d go with the 1-4x as you recommended…I’m sure that would be optimal.
LOL. Yes, I meant to say behind my Eotech.
I liked my Eotech for close up shooting but I found myself shooting less and less close up so I sold it and went to a scope. I’m happy with the scope now.
I have always been amazed at the distances a eotech can shoot without a magnifier. I have a eotech, TA31F, and a new aimpoint PRO inbound from Grant
. I do not have much time behind a aimpoint yet, but I love the eotech, and acog. I am looking forward to getting the new aimpoint.
I my self just made the switch from an EoTECH 557 to a leupold 1-4 in a larue spr mount and I can say there are more advantages with the 1-4 platform at least from what I have found.
The main advantage thus far for me is battery life,I went with a non illuminated scope with a heavy duplex reticle so I no longer need to worry about batteries or turning on the sight…its just point and shoot
Second is weight, I like to ne able to make those beyond 200 yard shots so when I had my EoTECH I invested in the 3x FTS magnifer and wow the wieght was rediculous, with the 1-4 power scope, mine is noticeably lighter than the EoTECH/magnifer combo. I wish I could post the actual weight on bolth but I sold the EoTECH and magnifer but the leupold in the larue is lighter…trust me,another plus for me is a simple rotation of a dial and I can switch from 1x-4x which I love.
Third is clairity, leupold glass to me is like looking at things in HD and is a tremendous advantage at distance.
I have nothing bad to say about EoTECH, I think they make a fantastic sight and I did like mine but for me and my application I feel that the 1-4 platform with a quality mount is superior in many ways.
Just my opinion
And for the record I would love to get my hands on one of those Trijicon 1-4 accupoints to try out
How about a acog ta31f or g or whatever acog with rmr? What 1-4 are You getting true 1x out of?
To be honest I don’t have alot of experience with the acog, I shot my friends once nad it was ok… I don’t remember the model of it but I don’t like the fixed 4x, as far as a true 1x out of my leupold its not its more like a 1.3x. Its a vx1 1-4 and its great
I have ACOGs a Leupold 1.5x5 on all my AR’s except one I use for home defense that has a Eotech. I train with it just to make sure I fluid with it about once a month, but the rest of my shooting is with magnified optics, I prefer them more.
