EOTech Thread And Poll

Just curious as to what happened to the EOTech thread and poll that was here. Was it removed? If so, why?

It seemed to me that it was a legitimate thread asking about known or reported shortcomings.

I was looking for it earlier as well.

It just went “Poof!”

I, as its OP, didn’t have anything to do with its disappearance.

Ok, so regardless of what happened I stand by what I have said. If there is some contradictory proof let it come forward. Without comparing an EOTech to an Aimpoint here are some highlights.

  1. SOCOM did indeed issue a recall of their Mod. 553’s also known as SU-231/ PEQ. Subsequently after some back and forth they were provided upgrade kits to fix the issue. I believe that a subcontractor was used to help make the field repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  2. Honolulu SWAT apparently had issues with their units as well. They also needed to get repair kits sent out in order to fix their sights.

  3. I have seen and documented problems with the 552’s here in Iraq. So have other companies that use them. The issues range from premature battery drain, contacts coming out of the battery packs, to units power down or shutting off while shooting.

  4. Initial customer service was poor. Though they seem to be acknowledging the problem and trying to fix it, it wasn’t always the case.

Any sight or for that matter any piece of kit can fail. It is how the company in question responds to the problem and the attempt that they make to fix it that matters. If I get treated poorly either as an individual or as a representative of my company you can rest assured that I will not want to do more business with that particular company. If a company does right however, I will also put that out there.

EOTech is a site sponsor.

If ‘Iraqgunz’ dies tomorrow we know who killed him…

don’t worry iraqgunz ,I got your back:D

Sit tight gents, it’s being discussed.

We created this forum so that the members could share first hand experiences with other members. In addition we try very hard to prevent manufacture/company bashing as a forum of negative advertising from a competitor. That’s why we ask, that if you have a problem with a piece of gear you contact the manufacture first instead of posting here.

Some have seen BushmasterFanBoy’s thread as “on the line” so we’re discussing it. Stand by.

M4arc,

I just want to be clear. I do not think that the intention was/ nor do I recall anyone bashing EOTech. We simply provided honest experiences and opinions of the particular product. It is no different than saying that xxxxx carbine is substandard and here is why xxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx.

I see comparisons here all the time about why this holster is better than that holster, or why this piece of tactical kit is better than another. It’s all based off of a persons observations and experience. If a manufacturer gets upset over it they should consider another line of work or take the criticism to heart and see if they can make it better.

As I have stated before. If a company makes a good product or provides good service I will be the first to commend them. If they don’t I am not going to hold my tongue for fear of upsetting someone.

I thought it was a good thread since it brought these issues out in the open and with proof instead of the second hand claims that couldn’t be backed up. Plus maybe if Eotech was aware that people are talking about these issues maybe they would try to improve the product so it works better. At least I would hope they would try to improve things since I really want to like eotechs, but I really don’t have the money to spend on on a product that might have issues.
