Aside from the neoprene covers, what is there out there for EOTech (its a 512 if that matters) lense protection? I know I have seen some kind of flip up protector, but for the life of me I cannot find it online. I am looking for this because I would like to do the Tigervalley Bug Out Drill ( http://www.tigervalley.com/tvciv_bugoutdrill.php ) and I am trying to line up gear. Which brings me to: Has anyone done this event before? If you have, please elaborate on the experience and give advice on gear selection or anything else you feel relevant. Also any information about this year’s event would be much appreciated. Preemptive thanks for any help.

I have two well worn EOtechs, one from each of my tours, and both have held up great to some pretty heavy knocks, drops, falls, scrapes, etc. Even the lenses.
I think the flip ups and scope coats are just one more thing in the way when you need to send accurate lead fast… and will trap moisture too.
I say go with what you got.
Yeah, I’m with you. I have a pretty well worn EOTech as well. I think it’s rugged enough to handle most things. The only advantage I can think of to having lense covers is that it could keep mud off of the lenses. As far as protection, though, I think the EOTech would probably outlast the covers.
GG&G makes the only set of flip up covers I know of. But, I’ll throw in another vote for “not needed”. I keep a lens cloth stuffed into the storage compartment of my Tango Down stubbie in case I really need to clean the glass in the field.

It does sound awesome and it is local or close enough to me. I sent them an email asking about the event date today and hope to hear back soon. I will definitely post any info I can get on it and pictures and whathaveyou if I am able to go. I just hope to God its not in August, if so they better bring a couple pallets of IVs.
Also thanks for the info on the EOTech. I’ve beaten mine around pretty good, but just thought it might be necessary. General consensus seems to be not necessary so I’ll go with that.
I use the flip-ups from GG&G. They look good and work great. I got them from Brownells online.
The GG&G’s mentioned earlier are the only ones I am aware of. I have them on my 512.
They feel like a quality piece of kit. They fit the sight well, are made with what feels like quality materials, and take a conscious effort to open.
It takes the same conscious effort to lock them closed so if the front cover gets pushed down accidentally it will pop right back up. No problems with the rear as it flips up and lays flush with the metal hood and is held there with spring pressure.
All in all very well done by GG&G!
With the heavily laminated scratch resistant glass lens on the EOTech, you really don’t need a lens cover unless you are operating in harsh environment 24/7.
then i need 'em. my 2-yr old son can scratch the heck out of anything. the other day, he thought it was fun to ‘write’ on my AR with a screwdriver, which he thought was a pen.
having a toddler around is a 24/7 harsh environment
