I just purchased my first AR, a sp6920. The rifle is perfect. The only thing I want to add is an eotech. Before anyone jumps on me about buying aimpoint, Id rather have true cowtiness than upper 1/3 so I decided on eotech. I noticed looking through pics on the forum that the 512 seems it might be a bit long with the BUIS. Will the 512 be ok or should buy the 516 to keep the sight shorter?
Might cost you a little more but go with one of the XPS or EXPS models for the shortest amount of railspace taken up. I’d look here
Wouldn’t matter. Decide on what battery you want to use. I like having a short one using cr123 batteries. Xps line is a smaller one. 516 is older than the xps.
… Though I prefer Aimpoint micros over Eotech.
You can mount Aimpoints in an absolute cowitness too.
Pick up the mid Larue mount instead of tall for a T-1 and you’re set.
As others have said, if it’s absolute co-witness you’re after that’s easy enough to do with the T1. Just get an ADM mount with the appropriate riser:

The one nice thing about the EoTech is you don’t need to buy a separate mount plus it’s a bit cheaper to start with. If you’re going to go the EoTech route, I really like my XPS. You can probably find one for a bit above 400. Probably looking at 600+ for the Aimpoint plus mount. I also have an R1 in the above mount and it depends on the day as to whether I prefer it or the XPS.
Well I had a chance to shoot my cousins le6920 with a xps eotech. I think that I am going to want a magnified scope on mine for the range and I don’t have $1000 for the eotech and the x3. Only problem is I have no idea what I am looking for on the AR platform. 1x4, 3x9? Anyone have any suggestions? I have read through the forum a bit and there seems to be a multitude of choices. I am looking to stay in the same price range, $400-$500. Any scopes stand out as a better choice in this range?
You can rule out the 516 as one of your choices if you don’t want lower 1/3.
