I’ve been lurking on the site for a while now and I’ve been spending most of my time searching and learning before I started talking. Lots of reading, and I still feel like I’ve got a lot more to do.
Anyway, I’ve been searching around on this and haven’t been able to find any info yet. The problem:
I have an EoTech 3x Gen II magnifier mounted behind a 512 on an LMT MRP CQB. I had the sight set to flip to the right (2 o’ clock) position. During my first trip to the range with the new magnifier, I realized that some of my ejected shells are hitting the outer body of the magnifier, and I’m getting oil from the bolt on the front lens of the magnifier. I’ll post pictures later, but the rear magnifier lens is even with the charging handle. The magnifier sits directly above a Magpul rear MBUS sight, so the mount is about sitting above the rear 1/3 of the ejection port, as well as the forward lens of the magnifier.
I’ve switched the magnifier to flip to the 11 o’ clock position, but I’m not the craziest about the position as it could be in the way if I need to access the charging handle in a hurry. I also don’t like having the release tab on the right side, I’d prefer to be able to hit it with my left hand if possible.
I guess I’ve got a couple of questions on this issue:
- For those of you who are running this setup/similar setup, which side do you have your sight flipping to?
- For those of you who have it set to flip to 2 o’ clock, have you been noticing similar issues? If so, what have you been able to do to rectify it?
- I’ve beeen seeing lens covers for the Aimpoint magnifiers, but haven’t been able to find them yet for the EoTech. Does anyone know if they make such an animal?
