Eotech guys - full use of reticle tips.

I’ve just got myself an XPS. This is my attempt to keep an open mind and form an opinion on a basis of personal experience, rather than web reports. My Aimpoints are watching with amusement…

Anyway, much has been said [by Eotech proponents] about superiority of its reticle. As far as speed of target acquisition, I’ll figure it out on my own with timed drills. What I am asking is if anybody proficient with Eotech would share any tips/tricks they might have. I understand the ranging possibilities, i.e. average human height fitting into 65 MOA circle at 100 yards etc. Is there anything else? Does anybody use it for leading the moving target? If yes, then what speeds/distances?

Thanks.

The bottom of the 65MOA circle, at close range (like at 7 yards), is supposed to be your aim point for proper offset for a more precise shot. Seems to work OK with mine, I tried it last Friday. Course, that was only with oh, half a magazine. I think I am going to try to pick up some of the “hostage” style targets and give it a whirl. For COM hits, I just put the dot on it and don’t worry about the offset.

I have not tried ranging or leading. It would be nice if I had a moving target setup.

I use an Eotech, because the Aimpoint dot isn’t round to my eye. The smaller 1moa Eotech dot doesn’t deform, at least not enough that I notice, like the Aimpoint does.

I realize that even a blurred Aimpoint dot is usable. It’s just not for me.
