Eotech cover

Fellas,

I am new to the Eotech world. Long time Aimpoint user. Will be getting a XPS 3-0 soon and wanted to know any info on scope covers for said RDS. GG&G seems to have a decent one but with goofy writing on the front cover. Anyone using anything else or have feedback on the GG&G product? Thanks,

-Jax

Not sure if you mean the flip up style but Scopecoat makes a pull over cover .

Yeah was interested more in the fixed flip up style but am interested in other options. Thanks.

GG&G is best. Get a marker!

Ha ha Cory! Was leaning torwards the Front Towards Enemy cover if couldn’t find a GG&G blank cover or some other brand that was interesting I wasn’t aware of.

I recently picked up an eotech used that had the GG&G covers and quick release already on it. The quick release is pretty nice but the covers seem a little bit flimsy. The back flips up on top of the hood but the front only goes up half way, I’m guessing so that it acts as a sun shade. This has me worrying that it will eventually get snagged and torn off. I believe you have to remove and reinstall the hood to put them on as well. My work rifle doesn’t have them it’s never seemed to miss them. I probably wouldn’t spend my money or time on them.

I have the GG&G “Front Towards Enemy” cover on my XPS 2-0 and really like it. Is it necessary, not really. It’s like the flip-up covers on all of my scopes except it doesn’t “seal” quite as well. It’s very convenient and you don’t have to keep track of it like the removable covers. YMMV…

I’ve never owned one of the GG&G flip-ups, but I have seen a couple of them go tits up during a high round class. I use one of the cheap neoprene scopecoats for storage and transport. Then yank it off and leave it in the case. I’ve been running an EXPS 3-0 for a while and love it.

You know the concept is probably ok but the retarded shit they put on the covers is a deal breaker. Surprised there is no Zombie version yet.

If they’d offer a plain version, they’d probably sell a lot more.

Edit: nevermind, just saw that they do offer the Zombie crap too.

I agree with this. I can also see how a Scopecoat may be a better choice for running any kind of high round course.

Looks like the better option to me.

I do agree, they should offer a plain version.

But if I had to choose it would choose the front towards enemy.

Oh snap! I need to get me another one then! :jester:

I had them on the 512 I had for years. They weren’t bad, but really weren’t necessary. I didn’t bother with them when I upgraded to a 553. The most use they saw was some paintball, but even with that I don’t know how the front didn’t get ripped off.

I have Scope coats on my EXPS-3 and G33 Magnifier. I have no issues with pulling them off and throwing them in my case. The GG&G covers seem flimsy. to me.

Appreciate the feedback all. Gonna try the GG&G.

So the question is… Which one? I hear the zombie stuff is all the rage. You could even fill in lines with lime green paint!

Jax, I had the GG&G covers (two of them, I believe, for two Eotech XPS’s), and after a few weeks of use, the flip-downs tore from the rubber frame that fits under the hood of the Eotech. The hinges are very tiny, fragile, and not well-engineered to stand up to any sort of real use.

If I had it to do over again, I’d go with some kind of slide-on cover that I could put in a pocket when using the rifle.

Just a word of experience from a fellow engineer (I was at the HD course in Moyock with you in 2011).

Have a good’n.

I have to say Jax, the AR that I have the GG&G cover on has been more of a safe queen since I installed it. I certainly bow to the people with more experience actually running the weapon. What they’re saying makes sense.

I guess it’s fine for the occasional trip to the range like mine. But if you’re gonna “work” it, you may want to factor that. Personally, I think I’ll look into a Scopecoat type cover to keep in my bag in case I decide to run the weapon hard and the flip-up cover fails. That way I have covered the “cool factor” and practical all at the same time… WIN WIN!

I also thank everyone for the input.

I have the G&G’s on both of my Eotech’s (XPS3-2 and 516,) and they have both been pretty solid even with pretty hard use. I think they made a version that had no writing on the cover if that bugged you.
