What is with all the recent bashing on EOtech lately?
I run a 557 with a magnifier and think it is great… but i am starting to wonder if i am crazy.
I got rid of my T1 to get this setup. T1 was great but it is for sure a one trick pony…CQB.
Is my EOtech really that unreliable? I’ve had no issues. Including having it in the rain.
They are still heavily used by the military. Correct?

Where, here? How long have you been lurking here prior to joining? Eotech is well respected on this forum, typically, but I tend to think Aimpoint is more highly regarded.
Folks report what they experience and see, and the chips fall where they do. We’ve had a number of threads, many with photographs, documenting issues that have arisen. The AARs of others using them in training and operationally also further discuss the issues. You can find those threads via the search button.
Best hope in the Eotech line seems to be the XPS. The rest is what it is.
That SWAT, military, and others use them means everything or nothing without further detail and context. Folks use a lot of good stuff, and folks use a lot of junk. Some never know the difference.

Exactly. As long as I can see the steel target at 450-500yds I can ring it no problem with the T-1.
Seems like a P.E.B.G.A.G issue to me. i.e Problem Exists Between Ground And Gun
I found that i am more accurate with my EOtech setup and can be accurate out to 400 yards. the T1 was fine out to 100 yards but anything past that is questionable.
This could be due to the magnifier.
Plus the Eotech has a 1 MOA dot not a 4 like the T-1.
I was running the same do-it-all setup as you but due to the weight I decided to sell it and split into two rifles one, with an ACOG and the other with a T-1. That being said I loved that setup other than the weight.
At work we have around 50 Eotech’s on m4’s and we have had ZERO issues with any of them. The anti-Eotech hype is just the cool aid right now, Aimpoint have them beat in battery life but everything else is just preference.
The fresh hits in the middle of the pillar are all full auto 2 rounds bursts from 100 to 400 yards.
Most people say the opposite:confused: The aimpoint tends to have a slight advantage at longer ranges no 65 MOA ring covering up target. The Eotech tends to to be the CQB optic hello 65 MOA ring.
There is a small dot in the center of that ring and mine has multiple dots that compensate for bullet drop out to 600 meters… which to be honest the jury is still out on that for me. See link.
