I’m sorting through some optic choices for a new Tactical-division 3gun rifle, and I hit upon the idea of running an EOTech 557.AR223 with a flip-type 3x or 4x magnifier behind it.
In the past I had always avoided the RDS/magnifier combination, because the magnifiers always seemed to severely restrict the field of view. This is a bummer when engaging multiple targets at longer ranges. However, the EOTech magnifier claims a six degree FOV, which is extremely good.
The purpose for this optic package would be to hit multiple small targets (paper and 8"/10" steel plates) at distances out to 400+ yards, ideally first-shot hits, on the clock.
Does anyone have any experience with the EOTech 557.AR223 + 3x magnifier package, or the EOTech 557 alone? If you have run the magnifier, how’s the FOV? Optical quality? Is the BDC on the 557 accurate? Does anyone have actual SMOA values for the 557 BDC? Any other thoughts?
Thanks all,
