Hey guys I read a lot of stuff online about how aimpoint is so much better than eotech. I have the 512 and I love it. How durable is the eotech 512? It should definatly hold up to some carbine classes right? Has anybody had any issues with a 512?
Had aimpoint bought eotech…took it to a class…the holographic jacked with my eyes on fast transitions (aimpoint never did that), sold it…went back to an aimpoint
With an EOtech its hard to tell until you get one…and you do some drills. I am sure it would hold up to a class just fine
You have an Eotech that you love, but you’re wondering how durable it is?
Isn’t there an optics forum on here anyway?
Aimpoint vs Eotech, Ford vs Chevy, 1911 vs Glock, mineral vs synthetic oil, Battery life on the Aimpoints are definitely better but thats about the only thing I have seen anyone agree on.
I love my 512, i have an older model with NV mode.
I prefer aimpoints. Since you already have it, just run it. You’ll be fine. Question… Why’d you get it in the first place?
I own both. Aimpoint has better battery life. Eotech’s 65moa/1moa reticle works better for me.
I’m on my second 512 for my duty rifle. The battery terminal issue. None of the field expedient fixes worked for more than a few minutes. A coworker had a piece inside the 512 come loose during quals and the donut walked up to the corner causing a bunch if misses on the target because he didn’t notice it right away. And he doesn’t use his rifle hard - maybe shoots it 50 - 100 rounds, 4 times a year.
Our firearms program has shipped boxes of 512s back to the company for repairs and/or replacement since I got here 7 years ago.
It’s more IMO than Ford v. Chevy. More like Lexus v. Yugo. The newer EOTechs with transverse mounted batteries are supposed to be better. But they cost 5-600 and an Aimpoint PRO is sub 400.
Wrong area- we have forum dedicated to optics. Also, please attempt to use the search feature. Many of your questions have already been discussed. It’s also a good idea to ask before you buy something.
