Just thought I would inform people looking for a quality holographic, such as the EOTech 512. A lot of people on here are hardcore Aimpoint fans which is cool, but seems as if you dont have an aimpoint your optic is junk… Well there wrong! I have the EOTech 512 on my BCM M4 and its holding up better then any optic Ive seen or shot with. So for you guys looking for a high quality optic and are now scratching your head because the Aimpoint guys on here. DONT! The EOTcech 512 is a great optic all the screw ups that you may of heard are wrong unless you’ve just got a bad one out of the bunch, which from what I’ve gathered from EOTech and felow shooters the malfunctions are fixed.
How many rounds have you used one for? How much have you abused it?
So the 512 is the forgotten best Eotech? Please tell us what other optics you have used to arrive at this conclusion.

Well first putting it under water or a decent period of time, thrown it kicked it ect… The basic torture test and quite a few rounds. I’ve ran it pretty hard
Shenanigans!
The 512 is an OK HWS who’s design is long in the tooth, nothing more, nothing less. There are better offerings out there from both mentioned companies. If it gives you a fuzzy manchubby, great, no reason to make a better than/as good as ( fill in other quality RDS/HWS ) thread…cause it simply is not that anymore.
Please go back to TOS…
Never in my post did I say best I specifically said good quality, I have friends with trijicon, aimpoint and the newer eotechs… And I don’t think ita forgotten I know a lot of people still buying the 512… I have buddys from work that have had the 512 for years no problems! I made this thread to inform possible eotech buyers to not be scared off from aimpoint fanatics. Aimpoints are great but why spend about 700 on a scope an mount when you can have a quality scope for less without throwing out money for a mount just to put it on your m4.
Dude the 512 is fine for weekend range shooters, but they tend to give up the ghost once pushed hard. I had one years ago but sold it after I started seeing way too many of then die mid stage at local matches. Hey if you like your 512 that’s all good, but you really shouldn’t come singing its praises to folks that have actually seen too many of them die. If it was such a good optic they wouldn’t have changed the design and made it their entry level priced model.
Now that the Aimpoint Pro can be had for $399, there is no excuse to waste money on an outdated design.
It just doesn’t make sense to spend roughly the same amount of money for something that is inferior to it’s competition.
EOTech mount = fail.
You said in your other thread (asking about UTG optics) that you bought the EOTech last week. How “hard” could you have possibly run it?
This is me… Urinating in this thread… Marking my territory.
Your “evidence” is anecdotal at best. We aren’t Aimpoint fanatics, we just like gear that is reliable and gives a good return in investment. And you keep throwing out the $700 number as if that’s the only option from Aimpoint. A PRO goes for under $400 and comes with a mount.
The real issue is that you got butt-hurt in your other two threads about your purchase. That you came back and started this thread just reinforces my earlier belief that you are a middle schooler posting from your mom’s basement.
An once again the aimpoint guys come out swinging. If I knew how to shut the forum I would this was for ppl that have been guessing eotech do to guys that praise aimpoint like a god. Might be there older model but obviously they’ve fixed the 512 fuck ups I know to many ppl with them that have abused the hell outta them pick it up an be right on target with perfect groups same with mine. And idk where your getting your aimpoint unless its a clone but evey one I’ve seen are 450 and up.
We don’t mind people posting about EOTechs. But trolls justifying their (<– that’s how you spell it) purchase with rantings doesn’t fly around here.
And your Aimpoint: http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/AIM12841.aspx
And EOTech did fix the 512… By fielding the XPS line.
And does your keyboard not have a period key??
Like the clone you almost bought on eBay? Thought so. To add… Can eotech make a decent optic? Yeah. But you’ll hear of an eotech crapping the bed WAY more often then aimpoint. I promise. Way. More. The aimpoint pro is $399 with qrp mount. Anyhow, enjoy your eoWRECK, changing it’s batteries (often), and justifying your purchase.
The EOTech reticle (at least on the 512. I didn’t see this problem on my friend’s EXPS-3) blooms like a motherfucker when magnified or run with NV behind it. (In NV mode. I think the 512 is the bulky one with NV right?)
Also the stupid ARMS mounts will come loose just from shooting it. Especially if run on a SCAR-H.
EXPS-3 doesn’t have this problem.
Dude, check out G&R Tactical…they are a site sponser, They have Aimpoint Pro’s for $400 complete with mount, ready to go, and $400 is the everyday price…And no, it’s not a clone either…you should shop around more…
Ive ran it pretty hard, an no sorry not but hurt nor a high school kid posting from a basement. I have a wife an twins. I run my equipment pretty damn hard and has yet to fail I shoot everyday an not just a couple of mags I’ve went threw plenty of rounds since my purchase of the eotech on top of throwing it ect… its a solid piece if equipment that has failed in the past an now has a bad name for imo an others I’ve talked with military, le, an regular guys like me shouldn’t have a bad name when it runs again imo just as good as most aimpoints an the newer ones prolly better end of story y’all have your opinion an I have mine.
You bought it two weeks ago, no you haven’t run it hard. You complained you were on a budget and couldn’t afford an expensive optic, but somehow you can afford the ammo to “run it hard”? Pray tell just what is the round count on your rifle/optic?
