For a “donut of death” on an SBR today, is this still a good option today?
Looking at one for sale at $400 NIB.

I didn’t know they still made those. I didn’t like them way back cause I thought they were too big.
I see amazon has new ones for $464. I was shocked. I use a couple of xps and exps.
I have one EXPS, but it’s on a gun I rarely shoot. I still don’t understand why they were so popular in some circles.
Now days you can get the same reticle in cheaper sights. The new Osight R for example.
If the old EOtech scratches an itch $400 isn’t too bad.
I wouldn’t want one, I agree with above, they’re needlessly big.
The 5xx’s main market now is cloners and tribute-builders. Other than that, I would say the only time you shouldn’t go newer is if it’s a ‘need it RIGHT NOW’ or it’s an absurdy good price and you plan to mount it on a beater gun for the range.
Yeah yeah, I say this having a 552 on the C8… but that’s because it was built to replicate a specific setup a buddy had in the Rockpile.
I just picked one up from locked loaded, think it was just shy of $400.00 after shipping. They are still out there.
Both of mine now ride on AK’s.
I had 2 Eotech’s break on me, one was the 512 the other was a XPS 2, I loved them both before they stopped working. I’ve kind of moved on to the Holosun AEMs which isn’t technically holographic, but its image with my astigmatism is awesome as well as how nice it is with night vision like a holographic, plus the battery run time makes it a clear winner to me. Otherwise, I have a Vortex Huey, which is pretty decent and doesn’t feel as large as it looks, but I feel like I have to replace the battery every 15 minutes
Neither did I until I got into NV, in that circle they second to none. I have an Aimpoint Micro on my primary HD/training gun, an LPVO w/ MRDS @ 12 o’clock on my GP gun, but an EXPS3-0 on my dedicated NV gun and haven’t looked back.
